Good find! Diageo makes up 23% of the fund's holdings...no surprise there. I'm very curious what makes up the other 77% but I can't find that info at the moment. According to the article, "the Spirited Funds/ETFMG Whiskey & Spirits Index does hold whiskey-related fare, but it's also home to spirit distilleries, breweries, and vintners as well as luxury good makers." This makes sense since few publicly traded companies own solely whiskey distilleries/brands. I'm guessing the other large holdings are Kirin, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Constellation Brands, Brown-Forman...that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Per Barrons, "Only three of those ETF’s top 25 holdings—Brown-Forman (BF.B), Diageo (DEO), and Constellation Brands (STZ), are listed in the U.S. The three biggest holdings in the fund hail from South Korea, followed by three Japanese spirit makers. Brown-Forman, along with companies from Chile, Italy, and Canada, round out the top ten. "

Interesting...may have to watch this one and see how it does. Unfortunately, Sazerac and others are privately held in the U.S., but this could still be an interesting addition to an investment portfolio.

If they give out samples for dividends, count me in as a preferred stockholder

Thanks, dcbt. It's interesting though, the other article said the largest holding was DEO, but this one says the largest three are from South Korea.

Is it typical to not know what companies are in an exchange traded fund if you really wanted to know? That alone would make me reluctant to invest in them.

In this one Italy may be Campari (WT and others). No idea what Chile would be and apparently Pernod-Ricard (which includes Irish Distillers), which is pretty big, isn't a major factor?

No, they are required to disclose that information quarterly.  But since they just launched this week, their first filing won't be until after 12/31/16.

Ah! Well that is a bit better but still seems a bit like buying a pig in a poke to start with...
