Places to eat around Maker's Mark?

Hello,

 

Wife and I are going on the Behind the Bar tour at Maker's Mark next week.  I know they have a restaurant on their grounds but they are not opened on the day of our tour.  Any recommendations on a good place to get lunch?

I can't say for sure but I've been to MM a few times and it seems a different route each time but I can't recall seeing any restaurant of any type within 10-15 miles of the distillery

Just a couple of mom and pop bar/honky tonks are all that I have seen near Loretto. If you like things battered and fried you can eat fairly close. Otherwise head on in to Bardstown. Kurtz' , Kresos, Mammy's are all worthwhile for lunch. Harrison-Smith House and The Rickhouse  for dinner.

What Eric said. One of those places in Bardstown would be your best bet.

Unfortunately Harrison-Smith House is temporarily closed (let's hope on the temporary) until February. The owners are expanding the small cafe they also run at Maker's, Star Hill Provisions, and apparently putting their efforts into that project. They are going into a larger building. 

 

But as to anything that actually helps you M1 .  I'll at least mention, Old Talbott Tavern. It is not a choice with most of us here but has its charm and according to other social media, some even enjoy the food.

I would also recommend making the short drive into Bardstown for the choices available there. Mammys is a favorite or, if you're so inclined, call ahead to Kurtz's and ask them to have some of their fabulous fried chicken ready for you!

I'll say that I do enjoy the Burgoo at the Talbot.  The temporary closing of HSH was heartbreaking for my wife and I.  We love that place and is almost as big of a draw as the whiskey made near by.
