This bottle just started popping up around here ($109.99).  I know there were very mixed reviews on the 20 +21 versions.  However, I was wondering if any of our SBer's had taken the plunge and would like to share their thoughts?

Thanks....

I've tried the Rhetoric 22.  I like it, but on balance I preferred the 20 (haven't tried the 21).  The 22-YO to me is just on the verge of being overoaked, and the 20 has more fruit and a little bit of brightness.  The 22 has excellent complexity, no question about that - dark chocolate, wood, earth, spice.

I much prefer the 22 over the 20 & 21. It has a richer, more complex flavor. I pick up a lot less oak with all the Rhetoric bottles than I do the Barterhouse, FWIW. I actually tried Rhetoric 22 in a bar and went out and bought 2 bottles.

That's quite the endorsement.  If I have time I may try to grab a bottle this weekend.  Thanks for the information, it is appreciated.

I grabbed a bottle back in early November figuring it was going to be my only chance to try an older bourbon... Since then I've been able to pick up an EC 18 and a PVW 23. One of these days I want to do a SBS with all three.

Hmmm, three well-aged offerings, from three totally different distilleries (including one wheater!).    Shoukd be fun, and likely enlightening.

Now I just need someone that lives relatively nearby who has a bottle of PVW20 to throw into the mix... Hmmmm?

Where do you reside, JT?    ...Or did we already have this conversation?     You'll have to forgive my pudding-head.    Much softer up there than it once was.

Pretty much straight south of Lansing, about 12 miles north of Ohio line.

Pick it up, its an older bourbon that is very good and your not paying out the ass for it.
