OldFitzWithTheGoldLabel
Nice! And please be sure to tell those officers that bourbon drinkers here appreciate all they do. I did. And, in case you are wondering, the boys in blue enjoyed WT 101, Buffalo Trace, Basil Hayden, WSR, Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, and Willett.Everything is spinning for me, so I am signing out for the night. Cheers, and stay safe.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

flahute
Brother in law is in town for his annual President's Day weekend visit. As is tradition, much bourbon gets consumed. We started with two RRSiB store picks that he brought from Dep's Fine Wine & Spirits out of Covington KY. He participated in the pick so it's extra special to him. They were both quite good, one more on the spicy side and one more on the round caramel side. We then compared these to a local TW store pick and the DEP's picks were the clear favorites. We then had a little dash of EW12yr (red label) because he's never had it. The charcoal filtering is evident by the smoothness of this one. Then onto 4RLESmB '15 because he's never had that one. The complexity of this one blew him away. My wife liked this one the best as well. Then onto some '14 GTS. Had to drink this because it was my brother in law who started me down the path with some GTS back in 2012 during Christmas. We then finished with RRSiB rye private selection. It's not in the same league as Stagg and 4RLESmB but it held up quite well - better than I thought it would. And the weekend has just begun. Guest
Making my way through this bottle rather quickly -- it's outstanding stuff. Wisconsin made, four grain, barrel-strength 5 year old whiskey that Nancy Fraley helped to develop. I got this bottle for 69.99 in Wisconsin, and for me it is definitely worth the premium price. Topped the night off with some 1792FP -- great pairing.

Kepler
Yesterday I did a comparison of ESSB 2006 versus 2008 at a bar. There was no comparison, as the 2006 was fantastic classic tasting EWSB that we have come to know and love. The 2008 was noticeably young and raw tasting in comparison. Not surprising given the recent drop in aging. This is the second time I've been disappointed with the 2008 at a bar, so I'm not passing it off as a sub-par barrel. For me anyway, there's no reason to buy the new stuff. Might as well save some cash and go with the EW white label BiB.
Nm0369
Doing a SBS of EC12 and EC store pick. The 12yr is a little more oak forward and slightly richer. Everything else is indistinguishable to me. Cheers

It's understood that at these times, you're doing both of you a favor by staying away. Just be sure to offer to have Mrsjvd99 text you if she needs anything, and at least one unsolicited "Can I get you anything, dear?", sometime during the evening goes a long way in your + Points column...
