emr454
All over the board tonight. Started with HW Double Rye, then went to Bernheim Wheat, now settling down with Henry McKenna 10 BIB.

They had Old Rip Van Winkle for $20 a heavy pour, Rock Hill Farms for $13, and Elmer T Lee. for $10. NICE!!!! The ORVW 10 was super, BTW. That's great. How it should be! stoopsie
Like I do every year on my birthday, a generous pour of OGD 56-60 and from bottle #56 some of my favorite rye, Doug's Green Ink. Another perfect birthday.

Whiskey Dick
it'd be interesting to know where that 22 year old rye came from. Not that I'll ever find any...... tonight, I tied a FRSmB a friend gave me for a b-day gift. not really my thing, but the gesture is greatly appreciated. I never got into FR much, mostly because I find they have too many options, and I don't want to invest the time and money into trying all of them, even if I could find them. It wasn't bad by any means, but I tend to judge most bourbons on a HH6BIB scale, and too many fail that test.....good spot to be in, I suppose. For all intents and purposes, there are just three 4Roses options. Yellow Label, The Small Batch that you have there, and the Single Barrel. An easy and simple lineup. If you mean diving into the private selection options, well that is a whole 'nuther thing. But, no need to let that get in the way of exploring the brands regular releases to find potential enjoyment!
LCWoody
Had some EC23y tonight. Very good, sweet, woody bourbon.
Harry in WashDC
For some reason, I've been craving EWSiB 2005. So, I've been drinking it. WE are happy - thirst quenched, a shelf spot opening soon.
meadeweber
I was at a friend's house on Sat. night and he wanted me to try a couple bourbons that he had just picked up. We had a store select WR. It had a decent finish but I didn't care too much for anything else about it. I've never cared for WR and the store select, although different enough from the regular release, didn't do it for me. It actually got worse with the second pour, Yellowstone 93 proof; thin and muted flavors. Fortunately things improved after that as we had a great wine with dinner (ribeye), Iter Reserve. My dessert was an interesting beer from Ocean City Brewing called Nuckin' Futs. It tasted like maple syrup covered walnuts.
meadeweber
A small pour of ORVW last night. For some reason it tasted a little hot last night. It was probably me not the whiskey. I added a touch of water and I didn't care for how it changed. Once again, it was probably me but it will probably be awhile before I add water to ORVW again. It's a different taste than any other distillate. Many years ago I was in the exact same situation. The bourbon world stopped @ Heaven Hill for me and then someone gifted me a 4R single barrel. Hated it for about a year.... Then started to like it. Now I have 12 open variations of it.... *Sigh* You may never thoroughly enjoy it, but don't give up or feel intimidated. Start with the basic 3 and branch slowly from there. Edited February 20, 2017 by 0895
dcbt
A little Bookers right now. I bought one extra when Beamco's fake news story of the price increase hit, but now I could use the bunker space so hello bottle clearing mode. Decided to take a PTO day today. Just fired up the grill. I think I read it here recently when someone said, "Nothing says vacation day like steak and whiskey for lunch." That's the plan! fishnbowljoe
I'm having the last couple of pours from a 750 of MMCS tonight. I might have to replace this one sometime in the near future since the only one I have left in my bunker is a 375 ml from the very first batch. Cheers! These are still on the shelf amazingly. I was at TW two weeks ago and I kept thinking I was looking straight past the MMCS. I couldn't fathom they were actually out. Indeed, they were in fact out of 750s but the employee pointed me to a 375 in another aisle. Batch 15-01. I didn't feel like making another stop so I bought it. Nm0369
After a beautiful mid February day (almost 70 ), decided to start the week with Blanton's SFTB. This isn't a good bourbon....it's excellent. Probably the smoothest 120+ proofer I've encountered. Has a wonderful warm finish that lingers with almost no burn. Cheers

One place here has 750's for $51.99 (they were $48.99 ), so I'll probably pony up for one at some point in the future, 'cause I really like the MMCS. Like I said, my lone remaining 375 is from their first batch, #14-01. I bought a few of those during the Sampler or KBF back in 2014. It would be hard for me to open that one cause I have a kinda sentimental attachment to it. FWIW, the adornment on the 375 is my MM Ambassadors Xmas present. Cheers! Whiskey Dick
sipping on the gifted 4RSmB again. still not really doing it. seems pretty light and smooth for 100 proof, but such a different profile when you're used to HH and Beam products at 100 proof +. Richdel
1rst pour was AB Gingerbread Cocoa finish. 2nd pour was EWSB2004. 3rd pour is ETL. Not sure who tonight's winner is, but the least favorite of the night (so far) has been the EWSB. Not sure I am going to get to pour #4...... MTNBourbon
A nice pour of CEHT Single Barrel. This bottle is almost done, most likely I will not buy again, not worth the money, besides I like the small batch better. Don't get me wrong, it's very nice, just not worth the price places are asking.
