I agree. I hope that they leave the label alone on Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond and Old Fitzgerald Prime. So iconic.

I do wish that they would ship Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond worldwide as I think it is far better than WSR.

I did the MMCS 1st batch the other way - bought a 375 at an outrageous price, liked it, and then bunkered two 750s @ MSRP, one of which is unopened and WAY in the back of an upper shelf (the other being LONG gone and replaced already by several of the newer iterations, most of which have also been consumed).

 

Tonight, however, I have satisfied my desire for my EWSiB 2005 and am back to my seemingly bottomless handle of JW Dant.  I'm not complaining, just in wonderment.  I sure hope my wife isn't sneaking down at night and pouring stuff from other bottles in there just for fun.

Never fear.  Just tonight I mentioned I had a bottle of Ritt in the basement (for use in a cocktail she'd picked out) to substitute for a KC Rye on the dining room floor and she said, "You have bourbon in the basement?"  ANS - "A few bottles."  She's afraid of the furnace so you know where I've stocked my mixed cases.  Don't tell her.  Forty+ years of marriage will get flushed down the drain.

Never fear.  Just tonight I mentioned I had a bottle of Ritt in the basement (for use in a cocktail she'd picked out) to substitute for a KC Rye on the dining room floor and she said, "You have bourbon in the basement?"  ANS - "A few bottles."  She's afraid of the furnace so you know where I've stocked my mixed cases.  Don't tell her.  Forty+ years of marriage will get flushed down the drain.

At least you have somewhere to hide it. My SF apartment leaves me with no option but to divulge all new purchases. I guess I could start storing it in the shared laundry room downstairs, but judging by what happened to my detergent when I left it in there, a case of bourbon would last all of a month and I'd be lucky if they left the box.

Anyways, tonight I am drinking a private selection of CS FRSB OBSV. This was bottled a couple years ago and is 11y5m old. All that time in oak shows through on the palate, which has tons of caramel, butterscotch, herbs, and a dry oaky finish. The nose is peculiar, shifting from savory to sweet like the wafting smells of a full table of thanksgiving foods. Absolutely delicious.

HH is definitely leaving it alone. Ignoring it and letting it die a slow, painful and undignified death. No marketing, tiny production and distribution. They are all in on Larceny. It's a shame.

Got in from fishing last night & poured one ounce of ECBP. When putting the glencairn in the sink this morning I noticed it looked like it hadn't been washed in years. You know the Bourbon is right when that happens. Really thick, oily, & flavor out the roof.

Didn't have one WHILE fishing? Only about 3 months left before I can go around these parts of the woods. Although I am going down to Fla. in a month just to get a taste of it again. What did you catch?

Me & my brother caught 26 White Perch. The majority of them were 1-1.5 pounds. Also caught 3 catfish that we gave to a friend & several nice sized bass that we released back. We worked in the fields for 11 days before rain shut us down on Monday, so it's nice to enjoy a little downtime.

Opened up a 11 year 6 month OBSO and a 11 year 3 month OESO tonight.  This was my first experience with the O yeast (outside of the Small Batch) and I really enjoyed both of these pours.  Both of these were very different and I really enjoyed how the finish just lingered.  The B was spicier and the E seemed to have more Oak and a sweeter nose.

I changed things up yet again, since I had a really good day at work. I remembered I had a dusty 1979 Beam decanter opened, so that's what I had a couple of pours of after work. It's 10 years old and 80 proof.

 

No Beam funkiness here. As with other bourbons from that era, the nose was pretty much butterscotch goodness. While it may be considered lacking a little in proof, it more than makes up for with a rich, viscousness, mouthfeel, and a truly nice, light oaky smoky flavor. Good stuff.
