Wathen's underwhelmed me at a bourbon party. I will try it again tonight.

Having a relaxing evening after an exceptionally stressful day.  Starting with WTKS store select, and RRSib Store Select.  Happy Monday!

I am having some of my father-in-law's Weller Antique store pick. Great nose. Smoother than WSR.

OldFitz..., you certainly look young for 21-years old (being a bourbon aficionado, I assume you are 21)!    Even at 18, I never looked this young!    You don't look like you even shave yet, dude!

I know, I have found the fountain of youth. My son actually requested to photo bomb this photo. Even though I am 40 years old, I still do not have to shave much and I still get carded quite a bit.

Believe it or not, a second pour of JB BIB.  I was going to finish my HH SB pick #2 but just couldn't pick up the bottle.

Well OldFItz it must be an OWA kind of night.  Enjoyed a pour of OWA 107 while watching The Big Chill.

^What a coincidence I'm having the same OWA as well. Picked up three bottles today and figured I don't need to ration my lone bottle anymore.

Darn this stuff is good! I get the smell and taste of cherries and the perfect amount of bite to it.

Can only imagine what the ORVW 107 would taste like.

I love synchronicity. That is so cool that we were all enjoying OWA.
It is so smooth for 107 proof. Delicious. I doubt that I will find a bottle 'in the wild' around here, but I would buy one for sure. Cheers!

Hoping to get some guidance from my fellow SBers...... need to buy a bottle of liquor for a co-worker who is retiring. He is a big Manhattan drinker so I want to get him a good bottle of Bourbon/rye for said cocktail of choice. Need some suggestuons on whether to go bourbon or rye, and without breaking the bank, but don’t want a cheap bottle either. Thanks in advance!

You could go with Rittenhouse Rye bottled in bond.  It should cost around $25.

Tonight I enjoyed the last of a Store select KCSB. Was very good with little to no heat on the finish. Glad I have another one in reserve.

I don't know what your budget is but I love making Manhattan's with OGD 114.  Should be in the neighborhood of $25.

it's very hard to find in Europe, i can have the small, but impossible to find the single barrel. I'm gonna drink my only bottle very slowly.

Like you Houston I finally got 2 bottles so I decided I can open one and not have to worry so much.  The WSR and the OWA 107 are two of my favorites.  Now if I can only find a bottle of W12

OldFitz, I've seen two bottles here in E'town in the last month.  Luckily for me they are both residing in my cabinet now.  I've tried to become best friends with some of the stores around here in hopes that they think of me the next time they get a bottle of W12.  It's amazing that the Weller products are more available the further away from Kentucky you get.

I have a friend who loves Manhatten's, his daily go to, gave him a bottle HWMD and he said it makes the best Manhatten he has tasted.

Preferences for bourbon and/or rye and brand vary greatly by individual.  A bourbon fan will have brands liked and disliked; same with rye fans.  I've always thought the safest gift for a whiskey aficionado is a gift certificate to a really well stocked liquor store.  No need to take the chance with a selection lots of folks here like, but he may loathe.

Decades.  It's OK but not really worth the buy in.  I think I liked the 17 better

I've read several people who have said that they liked the 17 better. I have thought about getting the 17, but it costs about $100 more than I have ever spent on a single bottle.

Opened a bottle of 8 yr stated Ridgemont Reserve (1792) a couple of nights ago and it was going too fast so I switched over to an opened bottle of OKI and had a couple of decent sized pours - enjoying this 10 yr sourced bourbon
