BigRich
I've read several people who have said that they liked the 17 better. I have thought about getting the 17, but it costs about $100 more than I have ever spent on a single bottle. Sent from my XT1650 using TapatalkYou will pop that cherry. It's only a matter of when.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have some old concert shirts and sports jerseys that I plan to sell. I will probably put that money towards a bottle of Wild Turkey Master's Keep.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
whiskeyagonzo
Decades. It's OK but not really worth the buy in. I think I liked the 17 betterIf the 17 is better than decades, you should run away and not look back. Took me forever to choke that bottle down. CardsandBourbon
A question for you guys. I was at a local store yesterday (Packages & More) and told them that I really enjoyed the bottle of KC Single Barrel Store Pick that I bought from them recently. They said they had gotten another store pick and that the people at the distillery told them that the juice in that barrel was 14 years old. Is there any way to verify that, other than their say so? I mean if I could pick up a 14 year old KC Single Barrel for $44.99 then I would probably be down for it. Otherwise I already have two bottles of it. I have seen 15 year old KCSB and have a 13 year old as well. You could also ask Eric in here as he is a member. So, if you had a hard time choking down WT Master's Keep, that intrigues me. Do you like Russell's Reserve and Rare Breed? What was so bad (other than price) about WT Master's Keep? What was so bad (other than price) about WT Master's Keep?I love old WT. Mid to late 80's 8/101, CGF, and BD are benchmarks for me. The current stuff just doesn't have the flavor of old school WT. I have had some truly wonderful current RR SB that give me hope for the future. That Masters Keep and the Diamond Anniversary bottles were a disappointment. I have not had decades, but I did have the RR 1998, and I have RR SB that IMHO, blew it away.

OldFitzWithTheGoldLabel
Also, I forgot to mention the low proof. It's like drinking water. It was flat neat and completely fell apart in a cocktail. The low proof has made me cautious to make the plunge on a bottle. I sure favor higher proof bourbons. WT 101 was primarily the only bourbon I drank for about 20 years (although I also drank a lot of shots of Kessler). I have really been curious about the top shelf WT releases. I should probably spend the money instead on a bottle of WT Kentucky Spirit and a bottle of Russell's Reserve Single Barrel (and still have spent far less than the $150 - $180 range for the WT Master's Keep).Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

If it's really 14 yr. then I will probably have to pull the trigger on that. That sounds like a great deal if it is a 14 year bottle.Paddy may know about how to tell the age on the KC single barrel store picks. He has told me about some here in Lexington.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Took me forever to choke that bottle down. That sounds like a bit of an exaggeration, I doubt many people had to "choke down" the 17 or any other WT LE. Some were not as good as others and may not have been worth the asking price, but none were so bad as to verge on the undrinkable.
whiskeyagonzo
Different strokes. I've been spoiled by 80's WT

Shit is awful. That being said, everyone's palate is different. One mans drain pour is another's top shelf. Cheers.

I have several bottles of their recent pick "Mammoth Liquors" which is their other store further South in Mammoth Cave KY, is on the plastic strip on the bottle that was 13yr 9 month and it's fantastic - glad to know they have another in house as well. Based on my dealings with P&M you can trust what they have to say

Mine had the number 4404 (or something like that) and they said the bottle that had the number 4410 was the one that was over 14 yrs. I didn't think they were lying, I was just wondering if there was any way to know age of the barrel for sure. HoustonNit
I had some OGD BiB last night and really liked it might consider as a good weekday sipper, enjoyed it more than OGD114, probably need to give the 114 another shot .Also need to get around to trying some OFSig and WT101 as a comparison. A kind fellow SBer recommended it to me. I would trade one of most releases of ECBP for that KC bottle. To me, it's all flavor intensity and sweetness without rough edges. Great buy. I'm sorry i can't do reviews because I'm not an expert and my English is limited, but I can't stop nosing this, it evolves constantly in the glass, its not that hot for a 127.5 proof bourbon, the finish is long not endless like a Stagg or a WLW but its enough longer for me. In my book, a solid B+/A-. Cheers!
