A kind fellow SBer recommended it to me. I would trade one of most releases of ECBP for that KC bottle. To me, it's all flavor intensity and sweetness without rough edges. Great buy. #4044 was the barrel I already had and I totally agree with you. Intense flavor and great smooth finish. Hard to believe that it is a 120 proof bourbon. I did go back today and pick up two bottles of barrel #3094 which was the 14+ year one. If it's any better than the #4044 then we're in for a real treat. In my book, a solid B+/A-. Cheers! Wow that does sound good. Love the standard bottlings.

That being said, everyone's palate is different. One mans drain pour is another's top shelf. Cheers. I never even suggested that because something is an LE it's automatically good. I was actually saying the opposite - that Decades was not special and not worth the price. If you've got any of that shitty PVW laying around, I'll gladly take it off your hands. Mine had the number 4404 (or something like that) and they said the bottle that had the number 4410 was the one that was over 14 yrs. I didn't think they were lying, I was just wondering if there was any way to know age of the barrel for sure. If the info is not on the bottle you have to trust the store telling you, or, you need to email Beam and ask. With the store and barrel no. they'll be able to tell you if someone there is willing to. I've never tried to cold call email them so I can't guarantee they'll tell you but it's worth a try if you have any reason to doubt. (And with Packages & More, you have no reason to doubt). I have a friend at Beam who I ask such things which is convenient. There's a local store pick KCSB with no age claims other than the 9 on the label. It tasted older to me so I asked my friend and within a day he told me the age down to the day, warehouse location, and dumping proof. And it was older as expected. Not sure why this store isn't advertising that.

There are a lot of good ones out there but the best advice is to taste it before you buy. I'm pretty sure P&M will let you do that as I have in the past and I know they do down at Mammoth. If you can't then just buy one, go to the car, taste it, decide and go back. There are some other guys on here that have bottles of the Mammoth I know this because I picked them up for them back in December but I don't know if they've opened them yet

CardsandBourbon
I asked him today how many of the barrel #3094 he had left after I bought my 2. He said he had a couple of bottles left and maybe one case in the back. I think we'll open it tonight so I will let you know what we thought. I was at a local store yesterday (Packages & More) and told them that I really enjoyed the bottle of KC Single Barrel Store Pick that I bought from them recently. They said they had gotten another store pick and that the people at the distillery told them that the juice in that barrel was 14 years old. Is there any way to verify that, other than their say so? I mean if I could pick up a 14 year old KC Single Barrel for $44.99 then I would probably be down for it. Otherwise I already have two bottles of it. I don't think they'd try to mislead anyone. Eric is good people. Cheers! Joe

[emoji6] Cheers! Joe Welcome. Although, there is a very strange release of lime zest to the nose when water is added. But it doesn't come through in the mouth. Bizarre.Spend the cash on the 17yr. Great stuff. Reminds me of old EC 18yr.I could drink that daily. Reminiscing of the good ole days....Of course said from the guy who has a decent stash of the old 18....I still can't get over the fact some days that I have a bunker of what I think of as ridiculous whiskey.B Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have been on the fence about getting a bottle. It is close to $100 more than I have ever spent on a bottle, but I have wrestled with buying a bottle of it for about a year.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

But I know I've bought a lot of upper end bottles that many others haven't.Personally, I really like old whiskey. I know it's not every bodies thing. Ultimately, it's up to you. If you're looking for a nice "treat" myself bottle, it's. it a bad choice. And one that is somewhat readily available sitting on the shelf, at retail.BSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hop
BIB night tonight. Started with EWBIB now moving it over to HH6BIB. Weighing in on the WTMK Decades - I find it to be very complex and significantly better than the 17yr. whiskeyagonzo
Yes it's a shame. This one and HH6BiB are a favorite standard pour when you don't want anything complex. Just a solid drinker.
