That's a very nice one.

Yeah, I really like this one.  Lot's of flavor up front.  It's kind of my "I just want to have a quick one and not have to pick so I'll just grab this one" bourbon.

preparing for a little get together tonight so I invaded the bunker

a couple of guys asked if they could bring anything, so I mentioned Michter's Celebration as a possibility

Which Ardbeg is that? Looks like the Ten box I had that came with samples of Corryvrecken and Uggeadail.  Huge fan of Ardbeg and Uggeadail in particular. Looks like a good time will be had!

Not bourbon, but decided to start with some Bernheim, and PHC Wheat.  While I wasn't blown away by the PHC, there's an obvious world of difference between these two.  But I think a mingle of the two might be the best solution - took half my pour of each, combined, and let sit for a bit, and it is delicious.

correct. it had the 2 small sample bottles, which I've sequestered for myself to see if I'll want full size bottles.

I had an overall great week at work despite having one "off" day. I even got a couple of "atta boys".  I'm celebrating once again with a couple of pours of our SB HHSS #1. The bad news is, there's only a pour or two left in this bottle. I'm gonna hate to see this one hit the recycle bin 'cause I only have one left in my bunker. :(

Cheers! Joe

assortment of glasses. I'm gonna concentrate on Islays tonight, especially to see if I want to drop coin on another Bowmore 25 and to decide if the Lagavulin 200th anniversary 25 yr old was worth it (likely not). Will hopefully compare the Hakushu 12 and 18, too. Hope my tastebuds can hold out. Should probably start with the Japanese. Gotta watch how much vW FR Rye gets poured.

I need something that can stand up to the strong flavors of authentic tacos al pastor. I figure EW BIB is up for the task.

I suspect we'll get into the van Winkles

and, yes, that's a bottle of AH Hirsch 16 yr old from 1974, about 2/3 gone. Kind of remember buying it, but not exactly where. Pretty sure it wasn't that expensive, likely under $200.

Gentlemen, I am currently enjoying some vanilla ice cream topped with fresh strawberries, blackberries and bananas macerated in some

Image result for evan williams peach  and whipped cream.  This is ridiculously tasty.

I can certainly appreciate this. I got the pics below from one of my friends a couple of months ago, only to then have him tell me he has no plans to crack it open...

Before retiring for the night I decided that to top off the dinner (shrimp marinated in Napa Valley Olive Oil Company Lemon Olive Oil, pan seared and served with Lemon Pepper Pappardale pasta and steamed fresh broccoli) and a nice Pinot Grigio, then the aforementioned fresh fruit & vanilla ice cream with the Evan Williams Peach, a pour of WSR was the perfect way to end the night.

The past two nights I've been enjoying the Old Forester Single Barrel pick that I participated in picking. (We chose my preferred barrel and it was unanimous).

It tastes like OF, but is not the typical OF profile. It has more spice and more wood influence (in a good way). Though you try to water these down to bottling proof during the pick, you never know for sure if you get it right. Happy to say this one turned out better than good.

Does your friend's house have a Wayback machine? Nice.

I hope that he invites you over for the special occasion when he does open this bottle.

Oh me too! I actually think he will. It may be 10 years from now, but I doubt he'll drink it alone. Part of the joy of having a bottle like that is sharing it with friends
