This what my neighbor and I ended up drinking last night. We both liked the Russell's Reserve 10 the best.

That looks like a great night. So, you mixed the Pikesville and ECBP?

Sure did...and it was great... I know a bit crazy, but you just never know... I'd like to try it again at the beginning of the night rather than towards the end where everything you drink might taste good.

A good friend sent me a sample of the PHC 10 24 year, which I'm trying now. One hell of a nose it. It's a bit thinner than I expected, a little bitter on the finish but overall very nice. Glad I didn't buy a bottle though.

Having a pour of WT13, maybe a little too smooth for my taste but very enjoyable.

Cheers!

Starting out the evening (ok its still afternoon) with some RY10. Still not loving it. Drinks really hot and has a bitter finish. I get a TINY bit of sweetness that I didn't get at all when bottle was new.

We'll see what I pour next but it can pretty much only go up from here.

Having WSR this afternoon.  I wasn't all that impressed when I first opened the bottle, but now that I'm near the end, I am really enjoying it, particularly the nose.  It could be oxidation or just that it's grown on me. :)

two 12+ hour weekend consecutive shifts, and came home to enjoy three days off. started with KC9, and then went to the Booker's "rocker" batch. Still prefer the Booker's, but the 20 proof points doesn't make it a fair fight. Both are good, and glad I am loaded up on both

Sitting watching some basketball and decided that I was just a tad thirsty.  Had some WSR, Larceny (can you tell I like my wheaters?) and then some Blanton's .  They are all good but there is just something about WSR and how it tastes to me.  Did the Beam Distillery tour, watched my Cardinals hang a 20 point win on the Syracuse Orange and ended the weekend with some good bourbon.  All in all I'd say a nice weekend.

Finished off with some Stagg Jr. while watching the Blues/Blackhawks game. It definitely went up from the RY10!

Opened a bottle of 16 ORVW last night even though I wasn't feeling the best. If it's that good when I'm not I can't wait to try again when I'm back to 100%

Started off last night with cracking open a couple of new bottles.  First was a 1792 small batch.  Hits you with an initial sweetness and then seems to shift right to dry/spicy and stays that way.  Not bad and I enjoyed it.  Second was the Corsair "Old' Punk".  Interesting, but if I was blindfolded I don't think I could have told you it was NOT tequila.  Seriously.  I enjoyed it and the spices were very nice, but I'm also a tequila guy so YMMV!

Attended a party at a friends this weekend and on the liquor shelf there was 1/2 bottle of AAA10yr. I have never had the 10YR, its got a tax stamp and a"10" in a gold oval over a beige colored label. They don't recall when they got it but told me they hate it and wondered if when they would ever be able to get rid of it. I tried some along with a freshly opened JDSB (I thought it was very good at the time but I was in no condition to evaluate) and a line up of flavored whiskeys (the host wanted to do a taste off). After maple and apple whiskeys and a Dewars 12 ( I damn near spit out that Beam maple stuff) I think I enjoyed the JD and AAA but who the hell could tell at that point.

As we were leaving they handed me the AAA and thanked me for taking that awful stuff off their hands. I am VERY much looking forward to sitting down with this with a clean palate to give it an honest try, I expect good things.

Any AAA vets out there care to hazard a guess as to its vintage? I couldn't turn up much in a Google search.

If you find it just too unpalatable feel free to ship it my way. I wish I could try that here in the States. ;)

Started by uncapping a bottle of W12 for the first pour, then it was VsOF12 to compare, the OF won tonight, reached for EWBIB, and now I'm finishing the night with the final pour from my "Staggering Buffalo" blend

PVW 15 tonight.

Great nose, better than the taste. Pushing the wood in this one, and I'm a gluten for age and oak.

Still, not complaining.

Four Roses barrel proof:

OBSK (store pick)

and

OESK (gift shop pick).

I like the OBSK just a tad more I think, but both are very nice.

;) Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it will be way better with a higher proof like his cousin the 12 yo.

Cooked 100 lbs. of crawfish & several lbs. of white perch last night. Enjoyed a great evening with Family & Friends! When I'm around a lot of people the whiskey chosen is always something easy & full of flavor. This particular bottle seems to fit the bill. Bought it from a store while visiting family last year & went back to get 4 more, leaving 1 behind. At 9 1/2 years & only 86.6 Proof it is very dark. Much darker than the Weller 12 90 Proof that I have open. These are hard to come by, but when you do, you know it. I will be enjoying an early evening pour of this, since I'm done for the day.

Cheers,

Jeff
