KC9, after spending a day cutting, welding, and repurposing a wrought iron storm door into a porch gate. Always a satisfaction in doing something yourself.

KC is nice, but I prefer the long aftertaste to the actual taste of it. Always thought it pushed the oak to my limit at times, but always enjoyed it regardless. If it gets a little younger, I may like it more.

Currenty suffering from a cornial abrasion which is causing me very much discomfort.  Dont even know what caused it but I am having a pour of a recently opened handle of WT 101. This bottle is tasting much better than the last pint size I recently finish. When the 101 is good I get a nice creamy vanilla note, very good.

Having a pour from this RY10 I opened on Sunday.  Oak dominates every aspect thus far....maybe it will air out with more time.  With a little water the nose turns sweet, but the palate remains oak heavy.

Cooked 100 lbs. of crawfish & several lbs. of white perch last night. Enjoyed a great evening with Family & Friends! When I'm around a lot of people the whiskey chosen is always something easy & full of flavor. This particular bottle seems to fit the bill. Bought it from a store while visiting family last year & went back to get 4 more, leaving 1 behind. At 9 1/2 years & only 86.6 Proof it is very dark. Much darker than the Weller 12 90 Proof that I have open. These are hard to come by, but when you do, you know it. I will be enjoying an early evening pour of this, since I'm done for the day.

Cheers,

Jeff

We don't know how good we have it sometimes until its gone. That's a very good bottle of bourbon.

I'm having some EC18 and SAOS SB

I am having some Very Old Barton Bottled in Bond, while cheering on the Cats during senior night. I love the initial burn of this bourbon. This bourbon is not bashful.

OGD 86, this bottle appears to be from around 2001 and to my taste buds is more enjoyable then the more recent bottle of the BIB I have.

Binnys PS OWA.  First sip was a little bitter, but, I'm going to play around with adding some water.  Going to stick with this bottle tonight, it is getting low.

The Binnys OWA single barrel I have is one of the best bourbons Ive ever tried. Its like all the OWA flavors were all turned up to 11.

45mL of WT101 bourbon.  I love the oak nose and the warm friendly taste.  Timeless classic without the Beam-style price gougings.

Up in Kelowna BC for work touring our PR firm around a couple wineries we designed. Had some good wine on the tour but was craving bourbon which is always a crapshoot up here in Canadia. Quite happy to find that the hotel bar has a decent selection so I'm currently sipping on a double Booker's - one of the pre-name batches.

May follow with KC or OGD

Last night started with a pour of OGD114, followed by Booker's 2014-6, and ended with KC SiB. A short climb up the Beam proof ladder. :D

The photo doesn't give me much to go on, but since you said it had a tax strip...maybe this link can help you out a bit.

Maybe I'm missing it, but I can't even make out the size of the bottle here.

I will take some more pics tomorrow the "strip" is red like the second one pictured in the link you shared. Thank you for that as it is an interesting read. The bottle is a 750. I took the original photo to show the proof as I did find a similar label but the proof is 90 vs. the 86 of my bottle.

Although the label looks almost identical, the 10* (star) is bottled at 90 proof.

I suspect your bottle is late 70's-early 80's (I'm assuming it's glass).  But the tax stamp(s) will be your best bet to further date it.

An old favorite, Evan Williams 7 yr 90 Proof from the Antebellum Decanter.  Big on butterscotch, pecan pie, and enough oak over the palate and finish to keep it from getting cloying.  Just like Rhett would have liked it...
