OF Prohibition or Booker's

I've not tried either of these. Thanks!

I'd go with the OF 1920. It may not be around long, and I thought it pretty darn tasty. It gets more complex and deep as the bottle opens up.

I'd say grab a Booker's while you still can at $50 and figure out if you like it. It would be a shame to find out you really like it after the price goes up $40 in January.

I'm gonna be that guy that says "both". Why limit yourself to just one?

Yes......we're enablers here.

I've never had the OF 1920, but I enjoy Booker's and if you get it now you can find it before the price jumps up next year.

Go with the OF 1920. It's a better bottle. Plus, don't take part in the Booker's frenzy unless you already know you like it and want to stock up.

I'm going to cave, and pickup my first TWO bottles of Booker's.  I like high proof Bourbon so one will get consumed, the other goes in the back of the cabinet.  Gotta finish my current two openings though.

That was why I originally put it in the running as my next bottle. I have the worst case of FOMO (fear of missing out) in the world. How does it compare to Baker's? Bc I freaking love Baker's.

If you don't mind, what flavors did you get out of it? How is the burn relative to the proof? For reference I regularly drink Baker'a with a single cube and it's like 107

Welp. This is probably going to happen. I'm totally throwing SB under the bus when Wifey finds out haha

I had all of Baker's, KCSB and Booker's open at once over a year or so. I reloaded on the KCSB and Booker's. I don't know if I'll ever buy another Baker's. I found more flavor and complexity at the higher proof. I'm guessing a little more age in the KCSB changed the flavor some as well. Baker's is a bit of a forgotten whiskey and is very solid, but at its price of $40, I find KCSB at $32 on sale to be a better choice, as well as Booker's at its old price of $50. Who knows, maybe now I'll revisit Baker's. The fun is in the journey. Try em all.

I'd say get a bottle or two of Booker's before the price increase if you can. I haven't tried the OF 1920 yet, but received a bottle for Christmas. I hope I'm going to like it based on all the SB commentary on the OF 1920, but I think it is going to be around for quite a while since I see a lot of it in almost every LS I go into. The other OF bottlings in the Whisky Row series have not impressed me, and I think they are all a bit overpriced...especially the 1897. I like the OF Signature better than the OF 1897 and it's half the price.

I hate Suntory Beam because of this fiasco and I plan to never do business with them again but in my opinion Bookers is a better bourbon than 1920.

I get the decision to not purchase Booker's again, but are you really willing to turn your nose to the entire portfolio over this?  If so, that's a lot of good bourbon and rye.

While I don't like the recent developments, I am appreciative of the 'heads up', and widespread markdowns on Booker's that many of us benefited from prior to the upcoming reboot.

Given that, It'll likely be years before I purchase another Booker's.  As for KC, KCSB, Baker's, JB BIB, JB DO, OGD BIB and KC rye......

....well, I just have a soft spot for great whiskey, and great value!  :D

The 1920 drinks less than its proof to me. At 115 it sits near a good bonded. Very impressive. At first I thought it rather simple in profile, but some extra time and some deeper pitted fruits come out. Nothing like the dark fruit of Stagg jr or ECBP. Brighter. Bookers has higher proof and reminds you of it. At similar price you might get the Bookers first. But I bet you'll really want the 1920 also. It's that good I think. Either way you will have some good Bourbon. :D

Cheers

Well,I love Knob Creek 9 Year but they changed it. I used to swear by Double Aged but that too changed. At least there's Old Grandad 114........oh wait a minute, that's gone as well and now to show their appreciation for the support I've given them through lean and hard times they jack the price up on Bookers to an obscene level. I really think I can do without Beam.

I'm gun shy... the OF 1897 put me off so much I haven't been able to pull the trigger on the 1920. That being said, I too am a proponent of "trying them all" Hell, my bunker holds many bottles of stuff that I bought just because I hadn't tried it yet. So my answer is also "buy them both" but the imminent price increase on the Booker's moves it up the priority list in my mind... ESPECIALLY if you decide you really like it and want to bunker a couple before the increase... This forum is full of guys who wish they had bought more of "X" before the price went up or more of "Y" before it was discontinued...

If all of us waited to buy more until after we finished what we have the bourbon industry would die.

You can never go wrong with OGD114. I have not tried the other ones though.

While those are all pretty good, I think you may regret picking up at least one Booker's before the price increase...but there is still time. [emoji3]
