ORVW from 2 years ago. I first opened this the night the Cubs won the world series, so figured tonight was another good excuse to have some. Good pour. Probably downshift to something else later on...

Midnight will be Buffalo Trace. By that time I'll be having quite the good time and not worth pouring something really nice that i won't really taste. Got fair number of people over and I'm not driving anywhere. Happy new year all!

I didn't plan this for NYE, but having some 1792 Full Proof store select to ring in the new year at home, after watching the college football playoffs.

Poured some WLW for the midnight toast, but had OWA 7yr Bernheim, PHC Blend of Mashbills, PHC Promise of Hope, and ECBP throughout the evening. Cheers to everyone at SB!

'15 WLW at midnight after emptying my flask of Macallan 18 with friends from our dance studio at the NYE dinner/dance.  A really wonderful start to 2017 - good thing the wife drove home, tho'.

All the best to you and yours for the New Year - remember Chinese New Year is January 28 (the year of the rooster).  Might need to track down an Age-Stated Fighting Cock for the celebration?!?!?!?!?!   ;)

Other than the standard OGD BIB, my buddy had a jar of chocolate cherry shine that was surprisingly good!

The New Year means it will be 25 in June  that SW closed so I reached  deep into the bunker and came up with a Louisville Centennial. Of course, the cork broke and a few crumbs fell in but got her cleaned up and a Willett cork to the rescue allows for Willett Glencairn (I missed out on the Centennial ones :)).

Continuing the SW theme with the last of an Old Fitz DSP 16 too.

Yep. If I only knew then what I know now. Passed on a shelf full at $43. Of course all back in the day when the BTACs and most VWs were less than that.

And thanks FacePlant and same to you.

Polishing off a Maker's 375 that I was gifted by making their suggested New Year's Eve cocktail, the M&M. A little bourbon in a champagne flute topped with Martinelli's Sparkling Cider with a maraschino cherry.  I've found a replacement for the traditional champagne toast. Tonight will be a little more traditional when I revisit my bottle of Russell's Reserve 10yr.

We decided to try camping in the Aussie 'bush'' for New Years just as a 101 degree heat wave hit.  Ice cold cans of premix Jim Beam and Cola were about the only thing I could drink, and I only managed 2 of them because the heat hung around all night. The bottle of  Makers 46 I had in the car didn't even come out, but I think the wax melted a bit :)

I warmed up with a SBS of Larceny vs Old Fitz 1849 (SW).    CLOSE call.    The OF1849 won by a slight margin; but the Larceny held it's own quite well, and was a bit 'thicker' on the tongue, which I like.

Followed that up by slowly killing off my bottle of HHSS (SB pick #2).    Downing the last two pours of that one was both a wonderful, and sad experience.    It will be missed.

On the other hand, I won't miss much about 2016.    Hopefully '17 will be better for many/most of the folx I know and love.

A 10 hour work shift took me through NYE. I punched out at 1:15 AM, just barely made it to the local pub for last call at 1:30 and ordered a beer and a 2 oz pour of Blanton's. They put it in a glass that had just come out of the machine and was still hot, but I managed to make my way out to the deck where I could let it sit in the snow for a minute before the precious liquid warmed up too much. First disaster of 2017 narrowly averted.

I'm camping in my chairB)while watching old movies on TV.  New Years Eve found me sipping basic BT while doing the dishes.  Tonight, after finishing off the dregs of a KC NAS, I'm back to BT.  It's 34 degrees F outside.  BUT, I'm toasty in here.

Inquiring minds want to know which old movies you watched. We watched Meet Me In St. Louis on New Years Eve. Other old movies watched during the holidays include: White Christmas, It's A Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Carol (the one with George C. Scott as Scrooge). We Still need to watch Holiday Inn. Russell's Reserve SiB and ECBP were consumed while watching some of these movies.

I got into my full last pours bottle and drank it down enough that I now have room to empty several more bottles into it.  It was my way of tasting 2016 in review.
