BT Bourbon Cream?

How available is Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream in your area? After hearing some great reviews of this on here and Reddit, I tried to get my hands on some for the holidays and came up empty. I am in Michigan, so we usually get screwed, but was down in Arkansas and Missouri over the holidays and didn't find any there either.

I got so frustrated that I emailed BT and asked about availability in Michigan. Surprisingly, I got an almost immediate response. Super nice guy, said they only send to Michigan twice a year. In October and February. Just wanted to see if that was the same everywhere or if I'm just screwed up here in Michigan.

I saw it very briefly in the St. Louis area on a strict allocation right around Thanksgiving.  I was able to get one bottle.  $20.  Tasty stuff.  Went back to try to get more...no dice.

I haven't seen it in Michigan. I've only bought four, two at the distillery and two in Indiana.

Supply in my area is somewhat limited; i.e., I still have one bottle in the cabinet but it and its former companion were purchased at BT. If two shipments = screwed in MI, you have a low threshold for screwdom. Have never seen any at all in OH. At BT, Freddie gave us a taste of the Cream mixed with some BT root beer. Tastes a whole lot better than it sounds.

So we're now at a place where even Bourbon Cream is allocated and unable to meet demand.

Virginia doesn't carry it, but we do have A. Smith Bowman's Mary Hite Bowman available and that's pretty good stuff (although I'd imagine that is not as widely available outside of VA).

I was just visiting Indy and I noticed it around there.

Perhaps we have to consider the company in question. Can only make so much real whiskey, whether or not it is blended in cream, when you are trying to make sure you meet the Fireball demand...

Picked up 2 bottles in Blacksburg and another 2 in Va Beach over the holidays so Va does carry it just have to be there when the truck shows up like everything else

Stuff like this drives me crazy in VA.  Why don't they put it up on their website.  They do a similar thing with EHT SB where they definitely get it from time to time but never shows up in the online inventory (and at least by me you have to ask in the back since it never hits the shelves).

Agree it's a pain but when you do find something it's not marked up 200%. I also picked up a EHT SB with the bourbon cream. Only one I've ever seen on a shelf in Va. The manager told me it had been on the shelf for about three minutes

Totally agree and I was thinking that as I posted. It's just a sign of the times that something as basic as Bourbon Cream is essentially allocated and that people who want to find it often can't.

Wow. I'm thinking of all the times I've seen this sitting on the shelf at my local store and passed on it without so much as even checking the price. Now that I know it's in hot demand and maybe even allocated Maybe I should rush out right now and buyevery bottle they have!

It's on limited allocation here in Australia, so when I saw two bottles at $35 each yesterday here in Brisbane, I grabbed them both.

I think it's pretty widely available here in Indiana.  I've seen it regularly.

Incidentally, I really wanted to like this stuff.  A nice change of pace.  And I love Baileys.  But I just don't like the Bourbon Cream.

Hit or miss - mainly miss here in NC but it's plentiful in KY - was just there and multiple stores had cases at $20-$21 and Costco had pallets at $18.50

I posted in the what bourbon did you buy today thread, but I went out looking for some a week ago. First store said he gets one case in October and one maybe in February. He keeps it in the back. He was out. Went to my regular store and he had a half dozen on the shelf. Bought two. I was there a week later and there were six on the shelf again. It's a seasonal so it may appear to be rare, but I'd call it more a specialty item than a unicorn. I did buy a black button bourbon cream from the first store I visited and it was a few bucks more but tastes great and I recommend as a substitute if you can find it.

It was all over in Kentucky when I was down there.  I have recently been finding it in New York stores.

It has finally come to Minnesota, I think my local got 12 bottles.  I bought about 6, of which 4 went to friends or shared at parties.  Sadly I am out already.  I've enjoyed it immensely over Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.  I will buy more for sure!

The only time I've had it was on the Hard Hat Tour at the distillery. It's good stuff! The mix of it and the root beer was also quite tasty.

Sadly it's not distributed to Washington State.

We do pay a few bucks more here in MI, but we do have the best liquor selection of any control state (TWICE as good as the next best).  Now, we probably don't have twice the bourbon selection as the next state, but still, the selection is pretty good.  Where in MI are you?

  • 1 month later...

I purchased a bottle of it at BT, along with a 6 pack of McGillicudy's Root Beer.  Served over ice tastes like an adult root beer float.  If you have Liquor Barns in your area they have a bourbon cream, with a hint of chocolate.  It's their private label called Flatboat.
