Queball
This is probably old news to longtime SB.com members, but I just came across this, and thought you all might enjoy that this site's reputation is well enough thought of to be mentioned as a resource on Maker's Mark's website: https://www.makersmark.com/faq . (See the very last entry on the page.) Dean Edited January 25, 2017 by Queball Misspelling
jbutler
That's pretty cool; thanks for pointing it out.
VAGentleman
Cool except for the fact they're referring people here to find out how much their bottle is worth, which is very frowned upon here

May be talking about EMPTY bottles. Although I've seen recommendations to break glass bottles, especially of high end whiskeys, to combat counterfeiting. Limegoldconvertible68
With empty Pappy bottles selling for $80 on certain unnamed websites you can be certain the counterfeiters are real.
flahute
There are already confirmed PVW fakes out there so no need to wonder.

Still, a link from a major producer's web site isn't something I'm going to complain about!
Louisiana
I repectfully disagree. Makers Mark is not representing the core value of SB.com. How can people be critized for such questions when SB.com approves of that message? Just saying. Don't delete my post or kick me out. Cheers, Jeff

Cheers, Jeff Yeah, when I saw this thread I thought "That's awesome!" And when I read their referral, I thought "Oooo . . . . that could get ugly". Hopefully their FAQ is like the FAQ on many other web-sites (and frequently avoided).
