Glad to see this show up this morning -- 1792 Full Proof Single Barrel Binny's Handpicked -- limited availability at locations all across...uh..."Chicagoland."

For those of us who have been crossing borders to grab a bottle of this stuff, this is definitely a welcome sight. It' clocking in at 49.99, which is a fair price, IMO, for this bottle (though I've yet to taste the Binny's Pick -- if they've chosen a honey, this could be a great price).

Interested in hearing from those who grab one of these -- your impressions, and any comparison you would offer to previous bottles of 1792FP.

I feel like there's an unusually large amount of 1792FP store selections out there.  Good stuff, so it's nice to see.  I even see them around these parts, and store selects are hard to come by here.  I think the one I grabbed down here was $40 to boot.

It's my understanding that 1792 cut off the barrel selection process for the remainder of the year due to the volume of requests they were getting.   These may have made it in under the wire.  I know with BT in total several stores are waiting 10-12+ weeks for their barrel selections to arrive after the pick date

One of the stores nearby did a barrel pick that was supposed to be FP but they received standard. It's still good but disappointing knowing what it was supposed to be.

3 of the bigger stores/chains in my area have all done 1792 full proof store picks in late 2016/early 2017.  One of the store managers told me that the local distributor got 3 or 4 barrels from sazerac and it was up to them (distributor) to allocate / distribute the barrels however they wanted.

While he did get to try samples of the different barrels, he was not given a choice of barrel, as he was the last store getting one and the other stores had already been assigned or picked a barrel.

He also said that while each sample tasted slightly different from each other, all of them were very good.

I wish they were actually full barrel proof instead of being cut down to 125, but I understand the label approval process with the state of Missouri is painfully slow.

It would be interesting to taste it at barrel proof for sure, but 125 is right in my own personal sweet-spot.  My first 1792 was the Sweet Wheat, which lived up to its name, but didn't impress.  I have some of the High Rye bunkered -- but the FP is one of my favorite bottles going.  Of late it has edged out the OF1920 as my fave bourbon of recent vintage.  Binny's being as big a player as they are, my fingers are crossed that they managed to snag a few nice barrels.

I should also mention that last weekend a buddy and I tried three different 1792FP  bottles SBSBS blind.

Two of them were local 2017 store picks against the national release from summer of 2016.

The two store picks were much better (offering deeper-complex richer flavors of caramel, molasses, and sweetness) than my bottle of the 2016 nat. release which to me was just "hot, dry, and one dimensional".

Sadly, my bottle from 2016's nat. release is now more on mixing/party/get-rid-of-it duty, as the store pick has replaced it as the occasional neat sipper.
