Advice needed

I am going to buy either stagg jr or ECBP. I have a few ECBP bunkered and 1 stagg jr. The stagg jr is slightly higher. Which 1?

Really comes down to which you enjoy more and, in your area which is more readily available to replace what you have for example in my area Stagg Jr is more plentiful than ECBP

If I could find ECBP @ 136pf, I'd buy that since I can't find any.  But I already have EC18s and some earlier batches of ECBP.  As Hop says, buy which ever you like and can buy.  ECBP goes for $49.99 and StaggJR for $38.99 and is reasonably available, lately.  They're both really, really good drams IMHO.

I like them both. Here Stagg Jr. goes for $50 (although I've seen it as high as $100) and is reasonably easy to find with some hunting. ECBP goes for $65+ and is a unicorn. I've seen exactly ONE bottle on a shelf in the last 3 years.

If I could find ECBP for $50 - $65 I would jump all over it.  I saw three bottles the past weekend , 2 at $99.99 & 1 at $109.99.  I have seen 0 bottles of Stagg around here.

I am in the minority that loves Stagg Jr. and doesn't enjoy ECBP.  In terms of bunkering harder to find stuff, safe money is on ECBP.  If you're more interested in bunkering what you actually like . . . Go with what you like.

In my area I buy every ECBP I see and have passed on lots of Stagg Jr just based on availability.  The ECBP disappears and the Stagg Jr lingers.

I'm with you Eric. Other than their BIB's and Larceny, I don't particularly care too much for HH's offerings. I am a lover of BT's bourbons though. As has been said here many times, the first batch of Stagg Jr was a bit rough, but subsequent batches have been good if not great. I'd buy the Stagg Jr.

I feel like the ECBP gets the better reviews, but my experiences to date are in favor of the Stagg jr. I would choose the Stagg.

I would go with Stagg Jr - after reading all the glowing reviews I went out of my way to get a bottle of ECBP at about $100 including shipping and I was not particularly impressed, I don't think it's any better than Bookers which I can get at the store any day and can be had for about $50 (or could, looks like it's up to $70-ish now), and I prefer Stagg at about $53 here.

 

I think ECBP was probably a steal for what it sold for a few years ago but at up to $100 I don't see the value in it. If you can get ECBP at near retail, get both!

OK, I'll play...I tend to prefer my bourbon around 7 years old. The EC12 is too oaky for my tastes. I expect the ECBP would be as well, so I've never sought it out.

It still sells for between $45 and $55 in my area, I agree at $100 even if Bookers is $70 then I would go Bookers, at the same price they are different so sometimes I want the extra Oak in ECBP, most days I would take Bookers myself though at least lately.
