Barrel_Proof
Booker Noe’s Special Barrel Bourbon was sealed with brown wax (and no ribbon) at least through 1990 or 1991 and perhaps into the mid-1990s. By 1996 or 1997, however, the bottling had been renamed Booker’s True Barrel Bourbon and was sealed with black wax and a khaki ribbon. There is, in addition, a copper wax/purple ribbon variant, used to seal the 10th Anniversary Booker's, bottled (at least in part) in 1998. The older bottlings of Booker's are prized by many and still available from a few dealers in Japan and Germany. They are not often found for sale stateside. If you have one, you possess a bourbonian treasure. More than a few of us would be happy to help you compare it to a current bottling of Beam's finest (and only) barrel proof bourbon. schlep
Thanks for the info. I am fond of the current bottlings and when I open the older one, I plan to share a taste with others who would appreciate it.schlep
