garbanzobean
For sheer variety, it has to be Heaven Hill for me. Glad I don't have to choose though.

Kepler
This might be the toughest question I've seen on this site. Because of variety I might just have to go with the Trace, even though I feel oddly guilty for some reason. Forgive me, Jimmy R!!
jshleffar
I'd go with BT but man would I miss ECBP

graftonbc1
It would have to be Four Roses for me. The depth and deliciousness of each of their products, and the quality of their single barrel selects puts them over the top for me. Close second is Beam as I do love me some Bookers. kcgumbohead
Yup tough one for sure but given how many PS bottles have been and continue to delight me above most/all others I shall hoist my cult flag for the mighty 4R (with trades for OGD,HH,WT????) Mule Skinner
I gotta go with Beam. I've been getting some really great store select bottles of Knob Creek at Lincoln Road Package store in Hattiesburg, Ms. Then there is the old stand by, Bookers, which I keep a few of. Whiskey Dick
HH on a bourbon night, MGP on a rye night. I'm kinda surprised 4R is not getting the love it used to. Is it because 10+ year stuff has all but dried up, the distiller change, or what?
Paddy
^^^I think it's more to do with the limited portfolio, than the quality of the whiskey. I love Four Roses, but I also love wheated bourbon and rye!
The Black Tot
It's still Trace for me, although this is the first year that I feel guilty about not saying 4 Roses. I think if 4R made a rye, I could commit. BT has ramped up so much in recent years, I think if the boom eases we're going to see some monsters coming out of there. their bog standard CEHT rye is delicious, and I recall hearsay that they've got something in the pipes to "replace" VWFRR. Wheaters have been made at full clip for some time now, and I don't foresee the shortage of them lasting much longer. More and more rack houses means more and more rack house sweet spots! We could say the same of HH of course, and some of our esteemed members have already done the recon! The last few years have really rounded me out regarding patronage. Beam gained the most ground for me with my newfound love of KC store picks (thanks C+B) and that damned Booker's Rye. Some 4R picks this year were some of the best bourbon I've ever bought - I really wish they had expanded years earlier. Turkey is the only one who has yet to blow my doors off, but I trust several members here when they say it's just a matter of time. I'm hoping 8yrs from now I can say Castle And Key. If half of what they are planning comes to bear, it could happen!
PaulO
I'm kind of surprised all the votes for BT. We can talk hypothetically about some of the wheated or mash bill #2 brands they make.

Wild Turkey is on the rise in terms of quality of their store picks, too. In fact, I think they have edged out FR in that regard in the past year or two. That said, I just like variety and Heaven Hill has got that in droves. It's a shame I can't swap Stagg Jr. for ECBP, though.
MeAndMyWhiskey
Heaven Hill . . . but I'm so glad this is only a hypothetical!

Four Roses has been my favorite distillery and rye recipe bourbon for a while now. If I didn't like variety, 4R would be my choice. I'm also concerned about how strained they are right now with supply, and I worry about quality dropping, or, changing, with the changes they've been making at the distillery. I'm in wait and see mode with them.

tanstaafl2
Well, it may be a bourbon thread but the man said one distillery. He didn't say one bourbon distillery. He didn't say one company that owns lots of distilleries (with all its attendant distilleries like BeamSuntory has, which would other wise be a good choice). So my choice is.... Midleton HA! This would hurt bad, if i had to I might go Amrut have access to Unpeated and Peated Malts, and very importantly Rum holy hell would I miss American Whiskey
The Black Tot
Even in the context of global eligibility, I'd still stick with BT, with 4R close behind. One would think I'd go with Diamond Distillers Ltd, but since the best stuff they make is actively being shut off to the market and I'm not even sure it's in production at ALL, I can't go that route. Springbank would be my second. But as much as I love a great Springbank, I'd take one of BT's or 4R's best first, hands down. Midleton - I love that RB21 but the price puts my feet back on the ground right quick! A good OWA pick is still in the mid-high 20's.

The title does say bourbon distillery, not sure if it has been edited. If I could only choose one distillery in the world, I could narrow things down to Heaven Hill, Springbank, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, and Bruichladdich. All distill a good variety of whisky (Bruichladdich I'm far less fond of than the others, but they have great variety), but I don't think I'd enjoy only drinking malt or bourbon/rye/wheat whiskey for the rest of my life. Longrow just doesn't do it for me like Islay peaters do, so Springbank could be out. But . . . Springbank. Its nice not to have to choose.
kwshannon
Going with the idea of a bourbon distillery. I've had to consider this question for a while. I've been in a wheat funk recently (WSR, MM). Also found great deal on Gentleman Jack for $10/375ml that has me going back for more & more. I've also had a chance recently to have barrel strength / premium products that include rye (WTRB, ECBP, 4RSBBS, Blanton). I've also toured most of the KY and TN distilleries, so would include their appearance and presentation in the mix (JB, 4R, MM, Barton, Willett, WR, BT, WT, JD, GD). Buffalo Trace - range of products including wheat, standard, and single barrel, plus they have a very good hard hat tour.
