The owner of one of the stores here in Nashville says that OFBB came and went last week. He was pushing the prohibition style though and said he'd be willing to pay $20 more than the $54.99 they were askin. Anybody share his opinion?

When I see the 1897 under $50 before tax, I buy one or two but never more than two (uh, bunker building, not really consuming it all).  When I see it $56 or more before tax, I always pass.  Fortunately, I have never been faced with its pre-tax price being >$50 but <$56 recently (last four months or so).  My palate makes me want to dilute the 1920 so I don't buy it - too much trouble finding its sweet spot - since the 1897 needs no adulteration as far as my mouth goes.  So, no, I do not share his opinion.  Further, I like the 1897 enough that I'd likely pass on an OFBB, anyway, at or above its current MSRP just like I have every year since about 2008.

The 2016 OFBB was excellent. The 1920 is pretty close to it. No idea what the 2017 BB tastes like. One of the better informed forum vets can chime in, but I believe the defining characteristic of the BB is that it varies from year to year, sometimes greatly. At least I think I read that. If I have that right, it's hard to compare anything to the BB year to year. What I can say without reservation is that the 1920 is good and worth the price.
