SAOS SB 10 or 11 yr?

Assuming the website is right and they are in stock at my local LS which one should I get?  Anyone had both recently?  which did you prefer?

I got a bottle recently and I think it was 11 year old (I'm not at home right now so I can't check).  I really like it.  However, to answer your question . . . one bottle of each.

LOL  I knew that was coming.  I just went on a spree this week and am trying to limit myself to just one of them.  Not sure I can when I see them sbs but that is the plan.  for this week anyway.

They are single barrel and my experience is they vary a lot so age isn't really the only thing to consider, I have a sub 90 proof 11 year that tastes less mature then even their non CS 10 year which honestly makes me like it more.  If you know the proofs you typically like to drink I would say that might be a better indicator.

This makes sense.  I have not put my hands on these bottles yet to know what the proofs are.

I find SAOS 10yr single barrel batches over 110 proof to be the finest bourbon I have ever tried.  On multiple occasions in double blind tastings, a couple of different store pick bottles have beaten out the entire BTAC collection and Papy for me.  I have only tried the 11yr once but have not found a very high proof bottle.   For me, I tend to really like the higher proof bottles so I have not found anything that I like better.   Honestly, you can't go wrong with either of these picks but I'd lean towards the higher proof.

If they are in stock at your local store for msrp, I would buy out the remainder of whatever they have regardless.

My feelings exactly. I have never had btac or pappy, but saos single barrel is the best I have ever had I think. A very close second is ecbp. I haven't seen any in the wild for many months either so if I were u I'd grab both.

I have a WLW sitting on my shelf right now (open, I drink my bourbon instead of flip it) and it's 3rd place behind 1/2 a bottle of a 120 proof Party Source store pick SAOS 10 and a 109 proof Party Source OKI Single Barrel store pick (MGP sourced and identical mashbill to the SAOS).  

The SAOS 10 store picks are UNBELIEVABLE.  THe 1/2 bottle of the 120 proof I have I traded a friend 1/2 a bottle of CEHTBP for before we did the blind tasting...after the blind tasting he was incredibly pissed as the SAOS blew the CEHTBP away.

Even if it's not I'd buy whatever they had.  I just paid $85 on the secondary today for a non single barrel, non store pick 10 year and it's worth every penny of it.

 my LS pricing is $59.99 for the 10 yr SB & 11 yr SB and $55.99 for the 10 yr non SB.

That is very fair.  I just found 4x bottles of the 10yr SB I bought out of state and shipped in for $59 plus shipping and I was thrilled (cheapest I have seen it in the wild in forever).  The same place I found the 4x bottles has an 11yr for $89.  I passed on it because it was 90 proof and that is really pushing it for my tastes.

I had it in my mind I was only going to get one of them since I have not tried either.  This and your post above about clearing the shelves make me want to buy more. lol

Given that it's a single barrel, none of us have tried it. Given that they source from MGP and that MGP has multiple mashbills, none of us can tell you what to expect without knowledge of what mashbills were used. What we can tell you is that there really aren't any bad SA barrel picks. So, if the price is reasonable, grab both. Taste them, evaluate them, and then decide if either is worth picking up multiples of.

That sucks! I've actually been looking for BP SOAS as I've yet to try one, but all the usual sites I shop online with don't have any. Has it been discontinued or something? Or is it just a seasonal release type deal? Earlier this year these seemed to be everywhere.

I believe it is discontinued.  I just found a local brick and mortar with FOUR CASES of it stashed away but it is above MSRP.  I am buying as much as I can afford but I can't afford all of it right now unfortunately.  Actually thinking to sell some other toys to pay for it.

My recollection is that they killed the barrel selection program (at least temporarily, as I think they intend to start it up again when their stocks recover), but they still sell SAOS at BP.  It's just not picked out by the stores, so this can get to a wider audience without a single store or chain buying up the entire barrel..

I've heard that at least one local store is getting a store pick single barrel, wondering if this is a sign the program is going to be up and running again soon. Feel free to PM me to find out the store, they do ship out of state.

If they're single barrel its hard to say. The best and the worst I've had were both 11 year single barrels. The latter I bought 2 of and offloaded the second, remains the only bad one I've had though.

So as I alluded to before one of my locals put up what they said online was a preview of their next SA Single Barrel Store Pick, they had 6 bottles and I grabbed two one for me and one for a fellow SB'er, there was a bit of a shit show going on at the store when I was there and they couldn't find the bottles just the box so they let me order them and have them shipped to my house. They came in today and two things I noticed immediately, 1. No store branding on the bottle 2. Bottle date is 2015 which is a year before the three bottles I bought from TWCP. It's a pretty prominent store as you can see from the receipt.
