Where to get Weller Antique 107 in AZ?

Hey all,

 

I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get any Weller Antique 107 in AZ or who I can contact to find that out? 

 

Or does anyone know of a good inexpensive whiskey purchasing site that will ship to my door in AZ?

As another Arizonan, I can tell you that Weller Fever is in full bloom here and it's difficult to find. You got lucky with that W12 score. OWA came and went here a while back. I think all of it sold in one morning.

That's what I was afraid of. Do you know what stores out here carried OWA when they had it? 

 

I may try to call and talk to their ordering manager

Just called the distributor for AZ and they only sold it to 1 place that is selling it for $80!!!! Wtf? 

 

I wonder if I'll ever get to try it.

Its ok but I wouldn't lose your mind over it. I chased it for a bit and now am passing it on to friends who want to own a bottle. It's not life changing. I will gladly swap a bottle of OWA for W12 if you want it that badly.

The distributors are sometimes as clueless as store employees can be. It went out to retailers. Don't know what place is selling it for $80, but they're likely just the last place to have it in stock due to the ludicrous price.

OWA, in my opinion only of course, is worth zero time spent trying to "hunt" for. There is so much other good whiskey out there and OWA just isn't that notable in terms of the liquid in the bottle these days. The availability and pricing currently is 99% hype. I wouldn't even consider paying over $30 a bottle for it. 

 

If you just want a wheated bourbon for your selection, Larceny is probably the best total price(low $20s in my area)/quality/availability option out there currently. The RY10 for a little more (I've paid $45-$54) is better whiskey than current OWA, on my opinion, and you might be able to pick it up easier than OWA currently, for less than that stupid $80 price. And people generally like Maker's Cask Strength as well, again easier to find and way less than that $80 number.

^BottledInBond has it right. I think hype is this is good bourbon under $30. If it's more than $30 it's not worth it. Would never pay more than RY10.

Agree with the two posts above, OWA costs $22.99 where I buy it, at that price it is great at $30 it is good not sure how much higher I would go but the value diminishes quickly, though in truth I've spent more on bottles I enjoy less many times.

Fanatic I'd just wait. It looks like your places got in W12 the same time as we got it in Texas. This recent shipment here doesn't seem to include WA107. A couple months back Texas got some shipments of WA107 and W12. WA107 shows up much more frequently and sits around longer. If you where able to score that much W12 you shouldn't have issues getting WA107 when it hits again problem next 1-2 months maybe sooner.

Next time I see it here in Texas I'll let you know.

That would be mighty awesome of you. All the stores around me are telling me they haven't had Antique 107 in about a year though.

That's crazy that they got all that W12 but never get in WA107. Maybe that's the case but they might just be tired of people calling and are lying or it's the wrong store. Even in Houston I'd say only 10% of stores get this.

On the other hand OWA is one of my favorites and I rank it way higher than larceny and slightly higher than ry10. Different palates I guess.

Weller 107 is my absolute favorite, but that factors in a mid $20's price.  I agree with previous posters that once price creeps above $30 a lot of the value is lost.

OWA was one of my Big Three regular pours. At its price point, I felt it offered exceptional value per pour--and I poured a lot. But it was still just a "regular pour," not the definition of nirvana. I haven't seen any in a couple years but there are numerous alternatives in the $20-30 range. If I see OWA, I'll buy it but I am not on a hunt for it the way some chase unicorns and dusties.

What will you hunt? What's in the $20-30 range that's better, in your opinion? I'm interested and always up for new whiskey!

Finally getting off OWA.  I'd look for Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, and OGD BiB.

I would take RY10 over it though the value to dollar is definitely better with OWA, I like DN 1843 better as well if we want to only talk wheaters, and that's pretty much in the same price range. I tend to like the HH wheaters more than the BT stuff though I would take OWA over Larceny as well. Weller SR is near the bottom rung of that ladder for me, I like Old Fitz Prime more, though even WSR is better than Rebel Yell or Makers.

I'll add a few, Henry McKenna SB BIB, WT101, Ezra Brooks 7 yr 101, JB BIB,  Knob Creek, I'm sure I can think of more that I like in that range more than OWA but those are the obvious ones to me. Plus no chasing for any of them.
