Birthday Bourbon

No, not THAT one.

 

My daughter surprised me with an early birthday present of EH Taylor Small Bath BiB. That has always been one of my "like to try, not sure I'll buy" bourbons. She went to a few places and got some recommendations as to something I might like based on what was in my bunker. She said there was a consensus on the EHT. (what a sweetheart).

 

I tasted an ounce of it last night after dinner. It is very much an enjoyable pour.

Very nice!  Littlesmokinjoe turns 21 in a little less than 2 years, and I hope she has the same kind heart for her daddy.  Although, if she comes home with a good bottle, the skeptic in me will wonder how much money does she need...

Thanks for the BD wishes. Since I launched full tilt into bourbon, I have a feeling this is going to be a bourbon-themed birthday for me (not that I am complaining).

You obviously raised her well. CEHT SmB is my current favorite, and it can be found in most store around here. Enjoy and Happy Birthday.

Thanks. I see the different expressions everywhere. I would really love to try the Four Grain.

I never seen the four grain anywhere, or the barrel strength. I did try a pour of the four grain in Memphis, it was good but it wasn't memorable. I still would like to try again, as I had a pour of PVW 15 before the 4G, which may have affected the flavor.

I have seen both, but the 4 grain is much more rare.

 

That must have been quite a fete in Memphis where both the Four Grain and a Pappy 15 were being poured.

McEwens in downtown Memphis, they have many bourbons to order, including many rare ones. I did pay a bit, but It was a treat. I likely wont do it it again, as I felt neither of the pours were worth the price paid.

Happy Birthday! I enjoy EHT SmB a lot, though I haven't actually had it for a while. May need to make a pour in honor of your Birthday!

I ain’t never been to Memphis, but I kinda like the music. We have a nice whiskey bar here in Worcester (Whiskey on Water), but I am usually driving and I won’t drink more than a sample when I’m driving. Anyway, they list quite a few drams, do it would be a good place to taste some things.

Happy Birthday!  I just looked at their bourbon list..great selection.  Of course they don't list prices. I'd have been tempted by the CEHT Seasoned Wood.
