Sour Mash Esq.
A buddy is opening his new bar/poker room in his house. I traditionally bring a bottle to any bar christening. Options at present are: Rendezvous Rye, Old Forester Statesman, Eagle Rare. Which would you rather receive? Assume for purposes of this exercise the recipient does not have a decent bourbon collection.
Bourbon Fanatic
I would personally like to receive the OF Statesman, just because I've never tried it and I'm all about trying new things. Second would definitely be the Eagle Rare, for sure! Great stuff! Let us know what you end up going with and how he likes it. Cheers! Mako254
Not one you listed but the col e h taylor bottles are visually pleasing to most and (imo) would work for a guy that wants a cool bottle to display and have a quality pour of bourbon for novice or whiskey nerd or any in between.
Richnimrod
If you could find a bottle of EWSB with this month's bottling date, that would a cool commemorative.

I would, but the stuff is hard to come by in these parts and I’d have to part with one of my few. I mean, place your oxygen mask first before assisting other passengers right?
meadeweber
I believe you can't go wrong with ER10. It's a quality, good tasting, age stated bourbon and it's not too hard on the wallet.
fishnbowljoe
I'd also go with the tried and true ER. Cheers! Joe

DeepCover
Eagle Rare gets my vote, from what we've been told. I'm a bigger fan of the CEHT, but ER10 is a nice choice.
Radioyada
If the buddy is a true buddy then all of the ones you mentioned should be shared between you at some time. As far as a gift my vote is for the Statesman. Eagle Rare is much easier to get and just does not have as much “gift” appeal in my opinion. I have not had the pleasure of tasting the Statesman yet, but the other two bottles are ones that should be standard pours in most collections. berto
Eagle Rare. It's got an eagle and it's rare.
kevinbrink
My favorite of the three would be the HWRR though I only had Statesman at a festival, can't really go wrong with any of the choices you listed.
chappy6107
ER 10, it is good stuff and the bottle is a handsome bottle.
Josh
If I'm buying a gift bourbon for somebody the first question I always ask is "do I like this person?" Everything else flows from that.Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
NYCBourbon
I'd agree with those voting for the Statesmen, it's a really solid pour in a nice looking bottle, plus as someone else mentioned the movie angle makes it a good talking point. Sour Mash Esq.
I did go with the Statesman, and it was so well received the bottle did not survive the evening. Another buddy brought OF1920 which I opened when the statesman was on its last legs. The consensus from the neophytes was that it drank too hot. But I liked it of course. Radioyada
I was able to try the Statesman last night, and thought it was good. At the right price a bottle just may end up in my stash somewhere.
