Yet another of the million bourbon legacies Jim/SB has left is the new "dusties" law to start in the New Year in Kentucky. That's "dusty", a term originated here years ago by ... I'm not sure, maybe me, Jeff Yeast, doesn't matter. It's really Jim who started it, who had a huge amount to do with the revival of interest in rye whiskey, in barrel proof, in Willett's and their histrory, Van Winkle, in craft distilling finally. If it's about whiskey Jim was all over it, not the only factor but a very large part of the story. I know because I was here since 2002 and I saw it happen.

When will the world of bourbon acknowledge what this man has done for the burgeoning whiskey industry in America? Why is he not a Kentucky Colonel? I urge the distilling and whiskey media to start recognizing the enormous contribution Jim Butler has made to the renaissance of these arts, something he has always modestly refrained from trumpeting.

Who will write the story of SB for one of the glossy magazines? The time is nigh.

Someone needs to start it with connections to the process.
