Soooooooo I just tried my first sip of RHF that I got from @Government Beard... All I can say is WOW!!

I had a feeling I would like this based on other similar mashbills and reviews I've read, but I had no idea it would be this amazing!

I kind of wish I didn't like it, because I can't find it around me.

If anyone doesn't want their bottle, send it my way and I'll do the dirty work of disposing of it . Just kidding - but seriously...

Happy bourboning!

Cheers!

Love this bourbon. I really like Blantons and keep 3-4 bottles on hand but for my money  Rock Hill Farms is the best of the breed for mash bill 2.

My exact feelings about RHF.  I sooooo wanted to like the Blanton's more in a blind SBS because it is much more available to me, but no such luck.

I have some cousins who are dipping their toes in the sour mash waters and I have agreed to set up a tasting for them at Thanksgiving.  On saturday, I picked up a Hancocks reserve from total (they got 8 cases which is nice but I'd sure trade some for RHF or Elmer).

I'm going to do a mash bill 2 tasting with the Hancocks, Elmer, Blantons and RHF. I did a little work on it yesterday and I must say Hancocks isn't close to Blantons or RHF and side by side the Elmer didn't hold up as well either (ducks) but I like higher proof. Wish RHF was more common in my neck of the woods.

That sounds like fun! I have yet to try Hancock's. That's on my list.

I really think RHF is my new favorite pour! I just wish I could find it!

Cheers!

I think I'm going to have "He Loved Mash Bill #2"  on my headstone.  I love them all from Hancock's, to ETL, to Blanton's to RHF.

I have never even seen a RHF in the wild. Blanton's seem to be plentiful here in the northern to middle TN area, but I have yet to see a RHF (or ETL or Hancock's). Any idea on what areas and states they are distributed to (and not to)?

Grab the bottle on the top shelf of Sun Stop for $130 lol.

I did just message a guy from Scottsdale that posted his finds on Instagram. He told me he goes to the box stores in California for their allocations since they are way better than here in AZ. His post today was 4 bottles of OF BB and 3 bottles of Kentucky Owl, and he posted a picture in August of 6 bottles of RHF, 7 bottles of FRSB 50th, and 3 bottles of ETL

If you want to step up the hunting, San Diego and LA aren't THAT far away, and the ocean is nice to visit haha. I may dig around the next time a convention or business trip draws me out to LA.

If you really want one each of RHF and ETL they can be had in Oak Grove but wayyyy overpriced.  Hancocks is in a couple stores in Nashville but not too often. Ive passed for a while but if I see it again Ill give you a heads up. You ever try your luck in hoptown? Let me know if you want to overpay and i'll tell you where in oak grove.

Couldn’t agree more. I have a few bottles of Blanton’s and Blanton’s SFTB on the shelf and I still find myself reaching for RHF more often than not (and I’m generally a total barrel proof fetishist). It’s really my favorite of the #2 mashbills by a good margin.

7 of the 4R 50th!?! That is insane! Even given unlimited access I don’t think I would spring for 7 bottles!

Right!? I would be content with 1-2 lol. Reading it again, he said he had 12 bottles

I have no idea. Unless he has someone on the 'inside', I wouldn't even know how the logistics for that would work since he lives in Arizona but said he got them in CA at the big box stores.

What is a good price for RHF? I saw one on Sat, but wasn't sure if the price was decent.

From what I've heard, $70 is pretty typical.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen it anywhere around me for under $130

How much did you see it for?

Cheers!

It’s listed on the Va ABC website for $56.99 but I’ve never seen any.

I do see it from time to time here in Atlanta. The same LS also had Midwinter Dram.

It's in a relatively obscure place, so I can always go back.
