Not sure if anyone in Arizona got the "big" flash sale e-mail of a whole 3 bottles of ORVW today from Bevmo.  This, among other things is one reason I don't usually do business with this store.  The e-mail stated to click on the link at noon for a chance at winning 1 of 3 ORWV bottles in Arizona.  Clicked on the link at noon..."sorry, you clicked too early"or something along those lines.  Tried for a few times past noon with the same message.  OK, they must mean 12 Pacific time.  Tried at 1 PM..."sorry...sold out."

While I didn't assume I'd have a chance at "winning" one of these bottles, it reminded me why I don't frequent Bevmo.  Why go through all the hassle of sending out emails if you only have 3 bottles?  Why not just offer these to your best customers? I have bought zero from Bevmo this year, yet I get this e-mail.

For all of Total Wine's faults, at least their awards program is pretty straightforward and easy to understand.  With Bevmo, there doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to their so called rewards program.  You don't know if you will get a chance at some of these allocated bottles if you spend $$$$ or do absolutely no business with them.

Are you in the Arizona Bourbon Society facebook group?

There was a bit of annoyance voiced there too, but I think two in the group nabbed bottles.

I had the same trouble though. I refreshed constantly starting at noon, and at 12:08 an error message came up, then the next refresh gave a button to get it, then an error, then it said sold-out and offered a coupon. Those in the group I mentioned showed someone did get a bottle from that one, then another person supposedly got a bottle when it went off at 12 pacific as well (1pm AZ).

I have talked to managers at 3 different Bevmo locations in the Phoenix area about their allocation process, and all 3 gave me different answers. 1) Corporate pet project of who they see spends the most money on bourbon in the area, 2) it is all randomly done through emails and there could be multiple waves of emails, 3) it is managers discretion when they get it in, so they can stick it in the back room and hold it, where if someone asks for a specific bottle, they may or may not decided to retrieve it. So yeah, good luck with that haha.

I am not on the AZ Bourbon Society group.  I have been meaning to.

Yes, in previous years, I've received multiple answers to the same question from different stores, and sometimes from the same store talking to the same person on different days.

Again, didn't expect much chance at the bottles, just strange how Bevmo does these things.

I haven't found a single place around here that seems to make sense. Either this kind of back and forth, crazy prices, simple favoritism, or luck.

Same story here, clicked to early then I clicked the delete button.  I like the manager at my local Bevmo, but the selection is weak and the prices are higher than TW&M.

The flash sale happened for Washington State today. 3 entire bottles for the state just like in Arizona.

I got through right at 10am and got to the buy button but was still too late. No surprise.

I agree that Total Wine's system is better.

CA had 10 bottles and the 10am sale time turned into a 1pm sale time because BevMo couldn't get it together.  The BTAC sale was Monday with one bottle of any type per customer.
