typf2
Good afternoon everyone! I just wanted to see who all out there has bought a bottle of Stitzel-Weller's Blade & Bow bourbon yet! Any similarities to Weller 12, Blanton's, etc.? I'm intrigued on buying a bottle, but i don't know if i want to pay the $45 it calls for. I see a lot of people talk poorly of Diageo which i believe is the company it's produced by.
Radioyada
I recently purchased a bottle, and I do not find any similarities to Weller 12 or Blanton's. My taste buds could be mistaken on that though...do not take my word for it. That being said I found it to be a pretty good drink. For the price I like CEHT Small Batch better, but I am glad to have this bottle. Would I buy it again? Most likely, but only if I want something to help me make my favorites last a little longer.

Is it relatable to anything else you have in your collection? I'm looking to make my Weller 12/Blanton's/Elmer T Lee last longer so i turn to something like Buffalo Trace or JD Single Barrel. Just looking to switch it up and Blade & Bow has been catching my eye everytime i'm in my local stores.
kevinbrink
Regular Blade and Bow is likely to have such a small percentage of SW bourbon that it is unnoticeable. Blade and Bow 22 contains both spirit distilled in Frankfort (currently BT) and Louisville (SW). Calling Blade and Bow Stizel Weller is akin to calling an iPhone a Samsung, sure some of what is in an iPhone is made by Samsung but they are not the same thing.

As for the Blade And Bow juice itself, it’s ok but not great. It’s tasty enough if not overly complex, and a bit thin for my taste. Don’t regret the bottle I have but wouldn’t by a second unless it was on sale.
$helby
I just finished a bottle of B&B and must say I am not a fan. Nice bottle but not similar at all to W12 or ETLboth of which I enjoy. Maybe the B&B22 would suite my taste buds better but I do not intend to purchase another one.
0895
I have one of each, but have only tried the regular release. It's fine, but no substitute for your favorite BT products. The really sad part is that I only bought the 22 year because I think the bottle is neat looking on my shelf. I may never open it. I can't imagine it being any better tasting than Barterhouse or rhetoric. Close up pictures of the blue label "regular" release have some important information that you should read very carefully. Simply put, this is sourced juice from a company with a great marketing department. Somewhere I read that if you collect all 5 different keys, you get a "special" tour, but like an idiot, I bought key # 1 on both bottles. Oh well.... Not like I was actually going to chase the others down. I think most people stop buying after one bottle of B&B anyway. gurgalunas
I've had B&B twice. Once at a friend's house, and once at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery on tour. It was offered with tastings of Bulleit Rye, regular Bulleit Bourbon, and 10 yr. I didn't think it stood out either time. Nothing bad to say, but nothing exceptional either. What is everyone's opinion of the Solera aging process they use on the B&B?
EarthQuake
I see this occasionally and have been tempted. Thanks for talking sense everyone, this has gone strictly back on the "try a pour at a bar" list.

Put it this way, I didn't finish it and run to the nearest liquor store and sweep every bottle into the cart and buy them all (like I would do with RHF, ETL . . .). It would be a sin to compare it to Barterhouse or Retoric. I'm not impressed buy regular B&B but I wish I could snag a bottle of the 22, totally different animal. birdie
I agree the 22yr is very, very good, was lucky enough to get a couple when it first appeared, down to half left in the second bottle.

Alright, Well I might end up drinking it then someday. Winter / early spring of 2016 I stopped in a gas station in rural Illinois for ice tea or something (probably chips too) and they had it for around $160 I'd never heard of it before.... Honestly just thought the bottle was cool looking. Had some extra money, so it came home. Several months later I found the more common blue label while traveling. Also tried the blue label in KY @ a bar... Have never seen the 22 year again.
