I picked up the Mic Drop based only on how much I enjoy the Ron Navazos Palazzi-- it's a nice piece of work. I'm sure the 150 bottle "Mic Drop No. 2" release due out this year is going to be a tough score.

Finally finished off a bottle of Medley Brothers (102-proof) that I bought some years ago (5? 6?).     I was never that impressed with it; but never hated it either, thus it still has hung around lo these many months and years.     It makes an OK mixer, and is only OK in a glencairn neat... 'til the last few pours over the last few weex.      It seems to have hit me rather better over these last three pours.      It ain't complex; but it is pretty decent, for a somewhat sweet, corn-forward, non-astringent Bourbon.     It's not hard to like, though I can't say it would ever be a first choice for me.      I don't expect to replace the bottle, though at the right price I could be talked into it.

Busy night. Got the ribs and pork butt rubbed up for an NFL playoffs and pokerfest I’m hosting tomorrow, then had to do a little work for my day job. With that done, I now have a clear conscience and am settling in with some Noe Secret.

4R OESQ and OESO. Still not enjoying these all that much. I really need to accept that I just don't like 4R and stop buying these.

I had to double check I'm still in the bourbon section. I had no idea what those are

This bottle has got to be at least 4 years old.

How do you keep good whiskey for that long? The longest I've had a bottle open has probably been a little over a month. Most are gone within 3 weeks.

It's totally gone over my head .. I don't know if I can blame being tired and having too much bourbon for it lol.

Having a 2010 bottle as well, just not in the same league as yours. Mine is an OWA PS from Kenwood Liquors, which is tasting damn good with a splash of water :)

This Stagg is phenomenal, even neat, it's quite smooth for such a monster. I've tasted some OWA PS once, it was a store picks from Blackwell's in California and it was pretty awesome, some quality stuff for sure, Enjoy!

Cheers!

Will.

That sounds like a terrific Saturday you've got lined up.  I miss days like that.  Enjoy.

Nice! Have you had the regular JM? How does it compare to the Cigar Blend?

Finally! A Saturday with nothing on the agenda. Even though we may go out a bit later, today is mostly for the (other) three R's. Rest, relax and recuperate. :) So I'm taking advantage of that, and the fact that I received some potentially good news at my work yesterday. À la Will (Special Reserve), I'm having a pour of 07 WLW alongside my second cup of coffee this morning. What a way to start a weekend. This combo tastes fantastic this morning! :D

Doing a sbs of these 2 today. The EB was on sale for $10 so thought I'd give it a shot. The BT typically runs $20-25.

The EB is darker in color than the BT.  Although EB is 25 proof vs 30 proof for the BT, the EB tastes boozier. It is not as sweet as the BT. The BT bottle says it has a "hint of sugar". No other ingredients except bourbon, cream, and caramel coloring are mentioned on either. The BT is screw cap and the EB has a cork. Only the BT mentions refrigeration after opening.

They are similar enough that I'd gladly get either one I could find to scratch the itch. I think I slightly prefer the BT for the extra sweetness.
