Does anyone know who Willett is sourcing Johnny Drum Private Stock from? I have a bottle from last year that I really enjoy. It has a unique flavor profile that I had not tasted anything like until last night when I cracked open the latest version of Wild Turkey Rare Breed (116proof). To my palate they were almost identical, especially when the WTRB is proofed down to 101. Has anyone else picked up on the similarities? Am I crazy? Since I enjoy the Drum, but can't find it, the WTRB could be a good substitute.

Haven't had Drum in a while because KBD stuff in general got really inconsistent the past couple years as they've struggled to maintain consistent sourcing and as aged stocks got depleted.

They source from a variety of distilleries. Heaven Hill most prominently followed by B-F and Beam. It's possible they have some Turkey from years back.

Whatever is in Drum will be a blend of everything they have including some of their own as they try to hit a profile. If it tastes like WTRB right now I'd guess that's a coincidence and not a result of that much Turkey in the blend.

Picked up a bottle of JDPS today. Upon first opening the bottle it tastes exactly like Noah's Mill. To me they are both cinnamon bombs.  I guess this would make sense since they are probably sourced from the same place but I don't get such strong cinnamon on any other bourbon I've tasted.

The strong cinnamon flavor is present in their own distillate. It would appear they are mixing more and more of their own into these brands now.

My bottle (approximately 2yrs old)

tastes very similar to many of the HH brands I have enjoyed.

I haven't completed a BSBS, but I am pretty sure it is HH distillate.

The bottle of Johnny Drum Private Stock resembles HMcK 10yr a lot   Not that, this means anything

cheers

HH is the most likely source for a bottle from two years ago.
