My wife sent me this the other day. A shot of whisky per day might actually be a good thing. The problem is after the first shot. Lol!

Nothing against you for posting this of course, but whoever wrote this pseudo-science BS must have kicked back at least 5 of those toxic beers before :) Sorry for the rant but couldn't resist, I've been reviewing academic papers all through New Year's Eve, and my BS sensitivity is at its peak atm.

Rest assured that if any article or site mentions 'toxins" in regards to diet, it's complete and utter nonsense. A quick look at what else is on this website show's that they're literally selling snake oil.

No offense taken. I didn't write it. Lol. Just curious though. Are you grading nutrition papers?

They aren't literally selling snake oil. That would mean they are actually selling oil from a snake. What I think you mean is just "they're selling snake oil" because they are calling distilled coconut oil "brain octane oil" and claiming benefits that as far as I know are not backed by the FDA.

Computer science papers, but BS is abundant in any field :)

I do know a thing or two about nutrition since I have a side job as a weight lifting trainer, and I try to follow reputable scholarly publications on fitness and nutrition, as far as my general "scientist" skills allow me to filter out all the fluff. Granted, my understanding of that field is extremely narrow and focused on either losing fat or building muscle. Still, health-craze-induced bait like this really ticks me off.

I didn't want to bite at this one, but the FDA knows nothing about nutrition and or whats good for the human body. There only interest is selling the american population out, to line their pockets. Their nutrition advice over the past 40-50 years could not be more wrong.

Shall we all don our tin-foil hats, now?????

You have to admit the FDA have flip flopped on a few different for items over the years. I've lost count on the number of times they have flip flopped on milk alone. At the end of the day they are a GOV agency though, so taking their word with a grain of salt wouldn't be bad advice. Assuming the salt doesn't say rocket your blood pressure.

There advice is wrong, but not due to a conspiracy, just ignorance and greed. No tin-foil hats needed.

I appreciate your sense of humor.

I agree with you both. I just thought it was funny/kinda cool whisky was on the healthy side of any list. Wasn't trying to vouch for the products behind the brand on the list - I know yall weren't accusing me of that. There are a lot of things the FDA lets slide that goes into our food that are banned in other countries. But if we don't buy shitty food and make ourselves fat and sick we would have a lot more money to spend on bourbon (trying to stay on topic) instead of on shitty food, doctors and pharmaceuticals.

Just to be clear; I wasn't calling anybody out for any point of view.

In fact, I for one never take anything published by a bunch of Federal bureaucrats seriously.

I mean these folx are THE VERY DEFINITION of 'junk scientists'.      Their publications very with the direction of every political wind (or even breeze? or even fart?).

I don't know.  "Ignorance and greed", along with, "There only interest is selling the american population out, to line their pockets..."

A tin foil hat may be appropriate in this case...  ;)

I never read any post in a negative light, that would be too easy to do. forum posts, emails and texts lack the ability to understand anybody's true intention. There is no true way to understand someones true thoughts without seeing non verbal cues, (facial expressions) tone of voice, and body language. This is one of most positive forums I have participated on, lots of good peeps here. Probably cuz we all drink bourbon.

Bit of a strong opinion on my part. Due to what I do for my profession, I have seen the direct results of the FDA flawed guidelines and advice. If need be I will gladly wear the tin foil hat. :D

If I can offer any advice, take what the FDA says and do the opposite. B)

Suggesting flawed guidelines and advice is one thing.  Typically, these are always open to different interpretations and opinions, and can be supported or rebuked with further analysis as time passes.  But, suggesting widespread impropriety at the expense of the American people and for their own personal enrichment as their  "only interest", is another.

This topic like many in our country have become very divisive, Nutrition and nutrition advice has become like a religion in our country. I believe I have seen enough facts that I can still defend my statement, "only interest" but I'm not going to do so, because I would need to type too much information (I hate typing). Plus this is not the forum for it. Perhaps we will meet sometime at a bourbon event and could have a healthy discussion about it. Until then we should stick to discussing bourbon.

Well, you're the one who opened by taking "a bite at this one"...Perhaps, follow DSHS.WA.GOV for recommended bite sizes...https://www.dshs.wa.gov/sites/default/files/DDA/dda/documents/Eating Swallowing Guidelines.pdf.  :D

BTW, is that a pic of Ann Coulter and her Adam's apple in the link?  Sure looks like her.  That had to be on purpose...

After looking at all the information provided through the link (Thanx, Smokinjoe!) I am still unable to determine if this is a jest or an actual (if moronic) attempt by the government to better our poor uninformed lives a little bit.

...And, by 'a little bit' I mean a half-teaspoonful; no more no less.

I have to say that I tend to believe this somewhat, but not in the way intended. Sipping some bourbon actually seems to help me keep my sanity at times.

Yes, i concur. Even if i have some wine with dinner, or a beer before dinner, the bourbon sipping time after dinner is the mental-health time.
