bourbon4all
So I have a bottle of 2015 Sazerac 18 that is earmarked for the soon to be birth of my son. The question is should I stick the whole bottle in my bookbag or do I open it and pour a couple boston rounds and use all my willpower to not have a sip? Why?
dcbt
Personally I'd do the boston round route. A little air usually does whiskey some good. And i'd hate for something bad to happen in transport to a whole bottle. You'll have your hands full as it is.
hugh jass
Congrats. I wouldn’t bring a bottle to the hospital. It’s crazy enough as is.
smokinjoe
Buy a really nice flask just for this very special occasion, and take your Saz in that. An event like this deserves the quality and presentation that a sample bottle just can’t deliver. And, Congratulations! Best to you, Momma, and your precious new addition to your Family!
bourbon4all
About to do the deed just needed someone else to second what my thoughts were. It's crazy enough is right.... My wife and I still can't remember if we owned a Bluetooth radio and left it there or what during our first birth

Nothing wrong with the Boston rounds, but I'd takes Joe's suggestion and get a nice flask!

Dom
Congrats!! I would say bring the whole bottle. Part of opening something like that is being able to see the bottle and show off a bit. Its your first drink with the little man so it should be in the pic! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BigSkyDrams
I had my second child in October and I went the flask route (can’t quite remember what was in it — OF1920 or Noah’s Mill). It worked out well. Sample bottles should be an adequate substitute. But if it’s a long labor, make sure to keep them packed somewhere and don’t break them out before he arrives and you’ve had some bonding moments. Wife might not appreciate that too much . Congrats on the new addition!

tigerlam92
Congratulations. Can’t go wrong no matter how you do it. Do like Joe’s flask idea and you can also pass that to him when the child is later at age. CheersHugh
bourbon4all
The whiskey was obviously the least important thing in this situation but it was nice to share a pour with the very few that were invited up to the hospital. My mother and father in law enjoyed it the most and were bragging to people about getting to drink a "special" whiskey. It is/was a fantastic whiskey and is made so much better by sharing it. Thanks for the kind words and I like geeten's idea and will put two ounces away for his...graduation? We'll see

bourbon4all
If I was to change anything it would have been to pack a couple more.... Looking back I wish I could have sent those I shared with at the hospital some to take along... but the list is short so I'll just refill/make some more!
