Quick trip to Richmond

Leaving SC to help a buddy move. Heading up via 95. I know NC and VA are control states but anyone know of any shops off 95 where a good store pick may be found.

pick a store in your buddy’s town and you can do an inventory search as well as checking the inventory of nearby stores.

Do check out the website and check the inventory of the VABC store out by the Richmond airport.  That's where I found my re-supply of Blanton's and WTRB in 375s at less than half price of the 750s.  Good hunting!

There won't be store picks in VA, but they may have some single barrels that were sent to the VA ABC (some stores still may have some Belle Meade Cask Strength).  As for items that recently hit VA ABC that you may be able to find (and I would double check the website with your buddies address to find if a store close by has it):

1792 High Rye

1792 Bottled in Bond

Kentucky Owl

Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel (this isn't on the website and you would have to ask a store about this and possibly have them look it up in the backroom computer for you  I can get you the product code if you're interested)

 

They'll also have the A Smith Bowman line (Bowman Brothers, John J Bowman, and Isaac Bowman, but I'm pretty sure the first two have a pretty wide distribution).

Joe, thanks for the heads up. Came across some Blantons at the ABC near Kings BBQ in Petersburg. Might drop by on Saturday if I come up empty.

I forgot about Blanton's.  VA ABC does seem to get a lot of Blanton's and has it in stock semi-regularly (although in the last year or so it does seem to be out of stock a good amount as well).  Pricing in VA ABC doesn't make a lot of sense so the 375's of Blanton's are less than half price of the 750's.

Forget bourbon.  Hunt beer instead!  There are great breweries in and around Richmond.  The Veil is amazing!
