Hey gang!

I unfortunately have fallen in love with a SAOS Cask Strength that was gifted to me last year for my birthday and ever since then (as I've been drinking the bottle down) I've been trying to locate more but have come up empty in my neck of the woods.

I understand it's been discontinued, but I've read that it's still out there if you know where to look... Problem is, I don't know where to look.

Does anyone know where I might be able to visit to find some? I'm in AZ but the fiancée and I love traveling :D

Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Anecdotal, but it made the rounds in Chicago around New Years. 11 year, single barrel. Randomly found a bottle at Binnys. Sold out quick. Binny’s had also released a SAOS 107 store pick at the same time, so perhaps the two were related.

I hadnt seen a bottle in a very long time & had kinda given up on this, then low and behold I saw this sitting on a binnys shelf. A nice xmas present to myself.

Have you tried the 107 store pic? Been tempted but read the 107 can be rather young tasting.

I didn't see the 11 year, but day after Christmas I did find a 12 year at my Binnys.  Nice stuff, low proof at like ~102pf.  Glad to have snagged one

  • 1 month later...

Talked to someone today who should know, who said that the SAOS 107 American Whiskey is a blend of SAOS 12 year and 5 year old Dickel.  Anyone ever heard this?

SOAS cask strength has all but disapeared from the market and it's not clear if it's coming back any time soon.

That said, you can find Belle Meade singe barrels which are more or less the same thing.

Speculation but a 7 yr old OS and 5 yr dickel.

The 5 yr Tennessee Whiskey (likely Dickel) is aged in "Rejuvenated" casks which generally means dumped and re-charred so it isn't the same Dickel whiskey that most are accustomed to since the barrels are second use.

It is my understanding that the SAOS American Whiskey (99 proof) is 7 year old SAOS bourbon and 5 yr dickel.  The SAOS American Whiskey 107 is a blend of 12 year bourbon and 6 year old dickel.  But I don't know where the 12 year bourbon comes from.

Which Single Barrel was it?  I have one 10 yr bottled by Sarah, left.  Although, I had an 11 yr that was amazing.  Anyway, I've always enjoyed SAOS, but haven't seen it in awhile.

I never see the SiBCS in NYC. I see contradiction and the 107 regularly.

Nabbed a bottle of 10yr 59.8% for $50 in January upstate though.

It comes and goes real fast I bought two bottles at Astor last fall and a few at Gramercy Wine and Spirits last summer. Haven't looked since but you never know. Fortunately there are other options for CS MGP so I don't feel the need to chase any particular NDP, I just buy whoever is selling for the best price which right now seems to be Backbone Uncut around here. If you want something older you can go Belle Mead or Boone County though you may have to order online.

Used to go to Astor but don’t really like the place, so I seldom go in there nowadays.

How’s Gramcery’s prices?

Decent not great but they tend to have interesting stuff so I stop there every couple months, you can see what they have online if you want to check for yourself.
