PiraSea
I walked past this one and laughed at its price many times at the store. I finally saw a review of it from Breaking Bourbon's tasting note tuesdays article.. Its older versions seem to be really highly thought of, but this one is close. If you want to google it, good luck... the two words: barrel bourbon, are so generic that you can find everything there is to know about bourbon without getting to what you want. I can't image it being $90 good or it wouldn't be sitting on the shelf so long. The same stores get a shipment of Blantons in and it lasts 2 days. EarthQuake
It's Barrell rather than Barrel, that will make searching a lot easier. You should be able to find plenty of reviews if not for this, then the earlier batches. Barrell is an NDP, they bottle barrels from a number of distilleries like MGP, Dickel (supposedly), and sometimes from Kentucky (not sure of source). Most of their releases are well regarded, but I agree a bit pricey. 014 info is here: https://www.barrellbourbon.com/batch14 Here's another review: https://adventuresinwhiskey.com/2017/12/11/__trashed/ I had the Batch 08b I think it was, 9 year Dickel, which I was not a fan of (mostly because I don't like Dickel). Also had the Rum Batch 1 which was interesting.
Adam777
I looked on breaking bourbon and I didn’t see any review for batch 14. That last 3 have gotten 3.5 barrels or something. I’ve been wanting to pick one up as I love the concept, but not the price tag. Saw batch 1 earlier today while hunting. Is that worth picking up? PiraSea
The review was in their little Tuesday tasting notes section... not in the regular reviews
GeeTen
Bought one today for $68.00 OTD - I'd rather be lucky than good . . . . . .
kevinbrink
The Barrell stuff is generally between $70 and $80 here though the really hyped batches (I'm looking at you batch 11) have been gouged a bit. I haven't had a bad batch yet but I haven't purchased one since 10, though I did grab the Rye batch 2 which is a blend of MGP and rye sourced from Poland that just dropped here. I'm a fan, and I like that they are moving towards blending to keep profiles interesting.

They hit the nail on the head with the cinnamon and butterscotch, completely different than anything I've had. I had a glass of the Bookers Sip Awhile with a cigar and it was a huge contrast. The bookers has the sweet, caramel taste and the Barrell went the opposite direction. I'm just getting into this stuff but its crazy how the same genre of whiskey can taste so different. It may not be $89 worthy but it was really good. Edited February 22, 2018 by PiraSea
thebourbonreport
I haven’t tried this batch, but I do have the 005. $65 and I do enjoy it. It’s very unique.
NDN98
Haven't tried the batch 14 yet, but the batch 5 and batch 11 have been my favorites thus far. Still have an unopened batch 11 in the bunker.
Clueby
I caved today and bought a batch 14 for $75. Haven't picked it up yet. I was torn between that and a New Year 2018 batch.
