I saw a post somewhere else where they said that TWE, MoM, etc. are now restricted to the states they can ship to.  Anyone know about this or what may have changed?

That probably should have ALWAYS been the case, it's just that they are just now conforming to US law.  I know Texas doesn't allow liquor shipments (yet wine is fine for some reason), but I did get some from TWE years ago.  The fact that they were overseas probably masked their operations or let them fly under the radar for awhile.

I just got a MoM delivery a few days ago.  Just tried to place orders from MoM & Royal Mile Whiskies to test it out and was denied.  RMW said it was due to airline restrictions and MoM said Illinois was a restricted state and they were working on alternate routes, whatever that means.  Hopefully this is temporary because I order from these UK shops a few times a year for Blanton's Gold, Blantons BP, Nikka SFTB, drinks by the dram, advent calendar etc.  I hope they figure this out because it will suck for all their US customers and will cut off a significant portion of their revenue stream.

This MoM's official statement:

When shipping to the USA, all duties are included in the shipping costs at the checkout. What you see is what you pay- no hidden charges.

Due to federal trade restrictions, we are not allowed to ship products of Cuban origin to the USA.

Also, due to state import restrictions, we are only allowed to deliver to:

California, Washington District of Columbia, Idaho, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Virginia, Wyoming

But don't worry, we can deliver your order to friends or family, in another state, although that may not be much help for Alaskans, sorry.

We also can't send to Schools, Colleges, PO boxes or military bases. Sorry, we know that's not great if you need your Navy-Strength Rumbullion! delivered to a PO box. We're working on it...

Funny thing is I've had Havana Club delivered multiple times, so who the heck knows what's going on.

This is from MoM's blog - seems like they think this can be worked out, fingers crossed:

First thing this morning we heard from our logistics partner in the US and it was not good news. There has been an immediate cut to the number of ‘allowable’ states that we can send our drinks to – and while the team on the ground is doing everything they can to sort it out, in the short-term we won’t be able to reach as many of you as usual.

From the morning of 26 February until further notice we can only ship to US customers in the following states:

California
Washington District of Columbia
Idaho
Louisiana
Nebraska
New Mexico
New York
Oregon
Virginia
Wyoming

We’re really disappointed. We love our customers in the US, and absolutely understand this is, quite frankly, not good enough.

We’ve already been in touch with all affected customers with live orders, but would encourage anyone concerned to get in contact and we’ll clear things up as much as we can. Feel free to use the live chat on the site, email us on contactus@masterofmalt.com or call 888 255 8181 if you’re in the US (+44 (0)1892 888 376 otherwise). We’re over on Facebook and Twitter, too. Just let us know how we can help with this.

We’re working as hard as possible to get back across our usual footprint, and will resume normal operations as soon as we can. In the meantime we promise to be clear and transparent, and make sure that everyone over the pond knows as much as we do about what’s going on. But we will have a solution – after all, the good people need their drinks!

I ordered a bunch of Westvleteran 12 and Filliers Jenever from Belgium in a Box recently. They shipped to SC but in the fine print I was warned that, while not common, it could be seized numerous places once it entered the US.. Customs, USPS, etc. And I excepted responsibility for that. They would not refund or reship. It did get delivered without a problem. You just have no idea when or where it is once it enters the US.

I'm surprised that Virginia is on the allowed list, it being a control state and all. I just assumed it was no bueno, so I never even tried to order from anywhere.

I'm shocked that Louisiana is still clear-- all but a handful of domestic mail order retailers have added us to their "no ship" list over the last 18 months, so I can't imagine TWE and MoM will last much longer. Back when I was buying mostly amari and liqueur, I ordered a gigantic 4.5L bottle of Luxardo Maraschino from TWE on a dare from my local LS owner, knowing that bottles larger than 1.75L are not allowable. Three days later-- it arrived.

I contacted them and they said it's a FedEx issue and a change in legislation.  They are looking at a solution but could take up to 2 weeks for a resolution, though that isn't guaranteed.
