This was in MA in the LE release season. Therefore, worse.

650 miles each way to buy and etched  1.75 bottle of Woodford Resreve  commemorating our first grand daughters birthday.    At least that’s how I talked my wife into a Kentucky Bourbon trip to Lexington/ Louisville.    Managed to come away with over 25 different KY only, store picks and bottles not available easily in NC in addition to the WR.      Can’t wait for the next grand child as I suspect my scheme will work again! F2A6CF08-D161-47AA-9061-05DA8CEA8D86.thumb.jpeg.c56dcd73d570175ba9313a8d34aa51ab.jpeg

For the sole purpose of picking up a bottle of bourbon, I think 80 miles or so.

But - if a similar scenario presented itself, based on the bourbon, I'd probably drive 400 miles.  I mean - if someone said "Hey - you won a chance to pay retail for a WLW . . . but it's in Chicago . . . and you've got to come this weekend . . . ", I might just cash in some delta miles ;)

MetroWest Boston to Richmond, VA - had breakfast with Harry in WashDC and his bride.   The bourbons were good, but the breakfast and company were great!   :D

To clarify - we had no bourbon at breakfast.  Frank had to drive so he had none, and I noticed that it was not yet Noon.

I always try to look for interesting bottles whenever traveling. But, the longest I've gone specifically to pick up some bottles would probably be from Indianapolis, IN to Lexington, KY (about 200 miles) for 3 handles of paper-label OWA. Well worth the trip!

I've made the trip from Greenwood, IN to Louisville, KY a couple times.  City to city is around 100 miles.  One highway exit sign on I 65 reads "Louisville 101".  There is maybe 20 - 30 minutes more driving after I cross the bridge into KY.

Early in the years of the 2000s, it was a much bigger deal.  Over the years, the selection and price differences between IN and KY have sort of leveled off.  There are still a couple KY only items I would like.  Whenever I crossed the Ohio River; I came home with plenty of beer too.
