My daughter just got a job waitressing at a new whiskey bar in Worcester’s theatre district. Classy place in a very old building. They have an outstanding selection of whiskey, including great bourbons. EC18 has been on my list to try for some time, so I had me a pour last night. I sipped it neat, and it was the stuff of dreams. Now to get my own bottle...

I heard that juice is good! I’ve had a chance to buy at $130, but passed. Hopefully you can buy at a price comfortable for you. I believe it usually comes out around September/November when all the LE bottles come out unless you see it on the shelf somewhere.

I'd be a buyer any day at $130. It sells for $199 at the HH gift shop and many liquor stores.

The state minimum here is $129.99. I think I had just bought a couple bottles of GTS at $90/ea so I passed. If it came up again around that price I would really think about it. Still it is 90 proof and I almost would rather have ECBP at $60, however I’ve never had the EC18.

The extra years on the wood really show through. Compared to the ECBP, it is smooth and buttery, with the same flavor profile. Obviously, less heat on the palate, but a gorgeous finish and Kentucky hug.

Orphan Barrel Barterhouse is a very good alternative to EC18 at $80-100 or so if you can find it in your area. It's the same mash bill distilled at the same distillery (New Bernhiem, now Heaven Hill), and the flavor profile, while not exactly the same is extremely similar. $130 for EC18 is a great price though.

Rhetoric 23 is a great alternative to EC23 as well. Again, not exactly the same, but more or less the same juice and very similar profile. R23 is a fantastic option at a fraction of the price of EC23.
