Statesboro Blues
Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum, or if this has been discussed before. Do any of you have experience purchasing bourbon online? In all aspects of life I live by the old adage, if it seems too good be true, it’s too good to be true. I found what seems to be a reputable website, selling limited edition and rare bourbon at MSRP. I’m talking limited edition and RARE, at MSRP. I know that it cannot be delivered to my house in Georgia, but I would be able to deliver it to an address in another state. Thoughts, opinions, cautionary tales? I have ordered online from plenty of sites but most mark up their LE stuff. I tend to stick with the same stores most of which are fairly prominent and well regarded. Marekv8
Sure, but the bottles I bought would be considered "somewhat uncommon" vs. "RARE" with the caps lock on. Stuff like CEHT Four Grain, CEHT Seasoned Wood, Four Roses Al Young, etc. Unfortunately they no longer ship to Louisiana-- like most of their online counterparts. My only cautions would be to run a few basic orders through first to get a feel for how well they package/track and general legitimacy-- and, if the bottle is paired with a secondary box, carton or tube-- make sure that this is part of the deal (typically it adds extra cost). Do they actually have any of the bottles you are interested in in stock? I've occasionally seen LE and rare bourbons listed on a site at MSRP (or close to it) only to find that, a click or two later, it was not available. Think about it. If a Google search could turn up a site selling BTAC, etc. for MSRP, it would get sucked up in an instant. K&L sells at MSRP and when they post even non rare but sought after bottles, such as ECPB, Weller, or Stagg Jr., to their inventory, they sell out in minutes. If that website still has those LE bottles in stock ~5 minutes after their release, I'd be wary.
