According to Nelson's Greenbrier Distillery they are release a new Belle Meade CS reserve. Instead of it being single barrels it will be a small batch of 7-11 year old hand picked barrels. Should be released around July 1st. Looking forward to giving this a try.

Sounds like it may be kind of limited. They said each batch will be from 7 hand picked barrels so not sure how many batches they will release or how often.

I’ve never been too impressed with the whiskey in much of the BM lineup, but I love the package.  Always catches my eye on the shelf at the Monger.

I dunno about this.  I bought a basic BM a couple of years ago for about $55.  I never bought another.  I liked it well enough, but it was, literally, one among 100s, and at that price . . .

Nevertheless, like Joe, I think the label sings.  Maybe in another couple years, I'll take another shot.

Harry, it always catches my eye, but I don’t buy it.  Like you, I bought 1 or 2, but I found nothing in it to warrant additional buys.  The price is somewhat an impediment, but my pass is based on the whiskey.  Just doesn’t do anything for me.  I’ll try it if it’s on the Gazebo table, or at a meet-up, but that’s about it.

The standard Belle Meade is pretty well....standard. I bought a bottle but never replaced it when it was gone and I used some of it for cooking. But the cask strength single barrels are great stuff. Some of them are among the best bourbons I've ever tried. I went to their distillery a couple of weeks ago and tried the Nelson's First 108 "Tennessee Bourbon" they had available. It's 2 years old, and was honestly better than I expected, but still young and needed a lot more aging. The sourced cask strength stuff is great, but has completely dried up lately around KY/IN/TN/VA. I assume this batched product is going to be more MGP sourced stuff, but a bit younger than the single barrels, which averaged around 10-11 yrs. I would love to try this given a fair price, but I also expect it would be quite limited unfortunately.

I think after the SAOS MGP-sourced stuff dried up, the Belle Meade and OKI bottlings were the next best thing, but those also seem to be pretty rare now. I'm glad I grabbed several for the bunker and hope to see some more in the future.

I've always passed on their stuff because the price always seemed a tad high to me for everything but the small batch. If this is priced lower than the single barrel, which usually goes for around $65 around these parts, I might pick one up.

I ike MGP, especially at barrel proof. But nice packaging aside (and I agree with Harry and smokinjoe, the bottle look great), I'm going to grab RRSB at less than $50 every time when the choice is between that and MGP at $65.

You've never been a big MGP fan so this is not a surprise.

I've never come across the stuff so I've never had to make the decision. Fine with me. Like you, MGP does not knock my socks off.
