I hosted a whiskey tasting at my house on Sunday afternoon, and one of the whiskeys we tasted was a 100+ year old bottle of Dewars. A neighbor of mine had found a stash of 10 or so 100 year old Dewars bottles when she and her husband were renovating a closet in their house and discovered these bottles behind a false wall. Talk about a great pre-Prohibition find!

The whiskey was absolutely incredible, well balanced, and remarkably well preserved. Of the three bottles she has left, I chose to open the one that looked like it had the least amount of oxidation and evaporative loss. The whiskey had notes of light peat, with some lavender and orchard fruit notes.

Thanks Fellas, it was truly an incredible dram! The best part was that my neighbor let me keep about 250 mL's of it, so I have some to keep for posterity and some to enjoy in the present. You better believe I'm going to enjoy this 100+ y.o. whisky while I can!

Cheers,

Nancy

He he he, @dcbt, I thought about that! But unlike my neighbor's house, which was built around 1900, my house was built in 1934, so it missed the whole Prohibition "hiding of stash."

Dang!!!!
