IIRC, something akin to this topic has been brought up before. I have to go with what in the past I’ve referred to as my big three. These three are Weller Centennial, Eagle Rare 10/101 and Wild Turkey 12  split label and/or cheesy gold foil.  Nuff’  Ced. ;)

Paper label OWA, National Distillers butterscotch rancio, Old Charter Classic 90 12yr, all the sourced bourbon awesomeness going on at Willett like Noah's Mill 15yr. Booker's. Old Overholt. Old Fitzgerald 1849. 13yr+ selections of Four Roses...

The ones that I mentioned that are technically "still available" IMO don't taste like they used to.

Easy affordable single cask Demerara rum in Europe...

ER 10/101 and WT RR 10/101

I recall back in 2005-2006 someone predicting a shortage of 10yr bourbon, a prediction that has proven to be quite prophetic.  Fortunately I managed to bunker a handful of my favorite 10yr offerings, including one each of ER 10/101 and WT RR 10/101.

For a rye answer mixed into this thread if I could turn back time I’d be stocking up on all the Medley/CoK aged ryes. My favorite whiskey and that stuff sat around unappreciated for so long. Hard to imagine now

I get to the next line in my head also. I don't know which is worse.

If I could find a way!

In fishnet stockings post cosmetic surgery.  Those were her Greg Allman days.  One has to ask themselves how did that happen?

A little before my time: National Distillers Old Taylor BIB and OGD BIB, DSP 414 Old Forester, DSP 16 Old Fitz BIB, Yellowstone Mellow Mash, ...

I didn't make it into the hobby in time to taste most of these bourbons mentioned here, but I reminisce about the old Ritt every once in a while.

I've never had it, but at only four years old, is it really that good?

Yes, good doesn't do it justice, I'd go with AMAZING. The nose, mouthfeel, taste, finish, everything about it was phenomenal. How a 4 year old bourbon got that great is beyond me. Definitely one the best whiskies I've had the pleasure of drinking and it made some other wonderful pours we had that night (Weller Centennial for example) seem almost ordinary. With all of that being said, I have a huge soft spot for the old bourbons that had that big butterscotchy nose and flavor to them, so YMMV. Also, I'm sure that great company, food and cigars helped!

Only been a bourbon guy for about 5 years, but my go to bottle was Elijah Crag 12yr.

Interesting! Sounds like something I’d like for sure. It also appears very dark for a 4yo bourbon, but the lighting may have something to do with that. That bottle was certainly sitting around somewhere for a long time.

The one  bourbon I miss the most because I drank more of it than most others is AAA10YO. Still have a bottle and a half that I am nursing along because it is irreplaceable. A few years ago I saw WT101 on the shelf with a sign saying 12YO. Thought I had struck the mother load! The sign said 12YO but the bottle did not. Bummer.

Van Winkle Lot B circa 2003-4 (I forget).  I paid the outrageous price of $51 for a 750, about double what I'd ever paid for bourbon.  I liked it so much, I bought maybe two dozen 750s, one at a time, over the next six months.  THEN, it disappeared.  I thus began my bourbon journey/quest/odyssey/etc. I found StraighttBourbon.com about then but didn't join until 2014.

I am wistful but have no regrets.  Why?  I learned that the Bourbon World is not limited to Lot B.

No wonder :)

But seriously, it's fascinating how much different things were back then. Different times. I was just discovering my local equivalent of PBR in 2003. If only I could do it all over again...

Anyways, back on topic. I remembered the old 15yr age-stated Noah's Mill. It was good stuff.
