I am excited, even though I doubt I will ever even see a bottle of it.  You can't even buy SR around here

As one that considers the "S" is SR to be used ironically that's not a bad thing.

It was a great great pour honestly. But at the same time, if it’s the store at $300 like CYPB was, I wouldn’t buy it. But again, it’s a great pour. And with the private barrel programs coming for it, it will be even better.

Any chatter about retail price on private select bottlesfrom stores that are getting barrels? I know MSRP is supposed to be $49.

I was thinking MSRP was going to be a bit higher than that for FP since that’s the new OWA retail price in TN.

Virginia ABC has it up at $49.99 so I assume that's MSRP.

Um, have you seen actual bottles?  The website says "lottery" so those of us who spend upwards of $1000+ a year on bourbon in VA BUT live outside VA so cannot enter the lottery (EVEN THOUGH I OWN A HOUSE IN VA AND SPEND !40+ DAYS A YEAR THERE!!! AND PAY PROPERTY TAXES THERE!!!!) cannot participate because my "primary residence" is outside VA.  Shades of Gibbons v. Ogden, 22 U.S. (9 Wheat.) 1 (1824).

BUMMER!

Of course I have not (and almost certainly will not) seen a bottle other than the website picture. In trying to think of ways for the VA ABC lottery system to work better, the idea of tying lottery entries to actual purchases crossed my mind. Sorry the current system doesn't allow you to enter. Besides the money spent at the ABC stores, the fact that you pay property taxes in Virginia makes it especially aggravating.

I have sent them multiple emails on this.  I pay VA about $4000  a year in real property taxes and $1000 in pers property taxes (old Jeep and old boat kept year round at old homestead).  That said, I think it is only fair that chances of winning be based on the fact you LIVE there rather than on the amount of money you SPEND there; i.e., everybody gets one shot; no fair multiple shots JUST for more tax payments.  BUT!  I should get at least ONE shot for all the cash I spending.  Don't you think?  Write GOV Northam and tell him, "Harry be shat upon!!  Fix it!!":D

Maybe if you could park your car so your infamous trunk hangs over the VA border for the bulk of the year...?

I wish it would come south.  I only know one store around here that has 2 bottles of WSR.  They want $199 each.  I love Weller, but that's crazy.

So perhaps I should have jumped at the $99 bottle (just kidding), I remember when you could get it for about $12 everywhere.

Seems like your best bet is getting a store pick bottle than the distillery offering.

Was able to grab a bottle of Full Proof at regular price as the store bought a barrel of it. (edit: should have clarified - seems it was a bit over msrp at $60 not the $50 listed above.)

would be nice to compare to the standard release but I doubt that’ll happen.

A buddy of mine knows a guy that picked a WFP Barrel for a restaurant in NOVA. Wonder if it’s the same place.

My LS was able to change their W107 pick to a WFP pick.  Turns out its the same samples/barrels and the proof (and therefore, bottling/label) is just an option for the buyer.  So Full Proof and W107 are not really different expressions, just different proof points.  This also explains the W107 price hike to be so high as it is in line with it's new sister bourbon, Full Proof.  Interesting, and kinda cool IMO.

I’ve done 2 side by sides, and they sure don’t taste the same. Weller Full Proof is hands down, tastier....and I love Antique.

The Weller Full proof in NCF and the standard OWA isn't so if you were doing side by side of the non store picks that might explain it.  I also agree with you.  I found the Full Proof just a little bit better in every way.  Still be happy with regular OWA.

Your resident Weller whore has yet to try Weller FP, or CYPB.   ?  Shocking I know. Believe me, I’m working on fixing that.    I do have a couple of irons in the fire regarding the FP. There also might be a third possibility. A semi-local store has a private selection of Weller SR in the works. There’s a slight chance that they might be able to change it to a OWA, or FP. Or, they might stay with the SR, and also be able to get an OWA or FP. I’m really not sure which because the last time I visited the store and tried to talk with the manager about this, they were very busy and our conversation was just a tad disjointed. Still......?

Good call, I forgot about the NCF of the Full Proof.

This was at Clarity and the WFP pick was very tasty.  They also had some other nice picks there.

The taters have descended on this. That's for damn sure. A local LS announced on their FB page they had 18 bottles yesterday at $60 and they were all gone by late afternoon. The FB post was removed after 5 minutes. Just long enough to attract the unicorn seeking tater or flipper to the latest glittery, shiny object.

And that is the exact reason I never say anywhere online where I purchase my bottles, or how much I pay for them.

This is a little more than what it goes for locally..but not much.  The replies to the question about a "good buy" were worth the read.

Budgetbottle, they may need to rethink the site name.

Would like to see the replies.
