From another thread, I thought I'd open up a forum for people to post what they can't find locally and would like to trade for at this September's Bourbon Fest. I was thinking that this would only be an open posting for what you want and any trading could be done via PM. Hope this is OK with our gracious host and esteemed moderators.

I guess since I opened the thread, I can start off with my wish list. Luckily, I can get almost anything in Missouri or across the Mississippi in Illinois, and can even order legally direct from Binny's, Sam's, etc. Therefore, most of my wish list is for bottlings that are sold out here.

1. Sazerac 18 to finish out my BT Antique Bourbon Collection. (Even LB was sold out when I was there)

2. EWSB 1986(doesn't everyone) and 1990

3. OFBB Spring 2003 (I have an extra Fall)

4. Just about any export-only Wild Turkey

I'm wiling to trade or pay for any of these. Drop me a PM if you have a source for any of them.

My wish is from BT Antique Bourbon Collection, Weller 19YO. I'd be willing trade a George Stagg (2002 or 2003 bottling) or OFBB 2003 (spring or fall).

I also have some Jacob's Well for trade. This was Jim Beam's first small batch bourbon.

I was looking for a little guidance on the trading process mainly to help with packing. Are most of the trades worked out in advance? Or do folks just show up with bottles and start bartering?

The problem is, I don't have a good sense of what is tradeworthy. Something that is "rare" to me in VA might be available all over near Bardstown, which I assume makes it not worth bringing. If any of the experts could guide me a little, I would appreciate it. I was THINKING of bringing a bottle or two of:

Wathen's 2001

OFBB Spring 03

EW Millenium

I don't know how the general supply is of VWFRR 13 year is holding out, but could bring a bottle of that, too.

And, if I won't be excommunicated from Straightbourbon.com, I have a JD 1915 Gold Medal 750ml I could trade.

If you think that any (all) of these are not tradeworthy, please say so with candor. It will help me with my packing, and they are still all welcome in our home!

I may be the wrong person to answer you, as I generally don't participate in the trading. I can say it's pretty informal, or has been from what I have observed. Pretty much anything that is available in the USA is available in Bardstown, so one can be carrying coals to Newcastle. Things like the Wathen's and EW Millennium are rare everywhere, so you might get some interest from them. VG 90 not so much. I can't speak to OFBB S/01. I suspect there is still plenty of VWFRR in Kentucky stores, unless you have one of the earlier bottlings to offer.

We've talked before about I.W. Harper and if you can get any of that, I think there would be some interest.

As for what you can get in Kentucky that you probably can't get at home, Very Old Barton is always the big thing for me, including now the new Ridgemont Reserve. There usually are a few Heaven Hill bottlings, in the Heaven Hill brand, that are worth picking up. Otherwise, for me at least, almost anything I can get there I can get here and at comparable prices.

I would love to get my hands on a bottle of the A.H Hirsch 20-year old. It would be the only one I or anyone in my family has. I would think it would go along with the still very well.

Not sure if anyone from your family goes so far north, but a friend called me the other day in response to a post on Hirsch 20 and he called the store in South Bend Indiana who still has several bottles of the 20 but don't have the means to ship it.

Sorry, but I won't be going anywhere near there or I'd deem it an honor to pick one up for you.

Hope to see you this week sometime anyway though.
