I've only visited Kentucky once, but I'll be back. But one of the hightlights or our trip was a visit to the Shaker Village of Pleasantville.

We rented a house on-site, all to ourselves and enjoyed an evening of solitude wandering the grounds without the day-time crowds. We also enjoyed an evening in their restaurant for an authentic (reproduction) shaker-inspired meal. This county is dry, so of course there was no alcohol available with our dinner!

A trip here, or an overnight stay, is highly recommended for all those who are contemplating or planning a tour to this part of Kentucky.

Although I've never stayed there, I have visited several times and agree that it is well worth a stop if you are interested in history or design, as Shaker design is truly a marvel and inspired or anticipated much of modern design. As for the history, this is a rare historic site where you can really feel what it must have been like to be part of that community in its heyday.
