I hardly know what to say.

For me the choice of drink is easy.  My best friend of over 50 years, Doug Fuller, was born on June 14, 1951.  National Bourbon Day (also Flag day).  He introduced me to bourbon when I was 18 and he was 21 (Jack Daniel's and creme soda, because that's what we had on hand).  We comforted each other through our first broken hearts, and years later, when we each met the women we were meant to spend our lives with, we were Best Man at each other's weddings.  He had part-time jobs at two liquor stores while he was in college and were roommates.  Lost him to cancer in 2017.  The two liquor stores he worked at 50 years ago are still there (one has changed names and uses a couple of times) and each did store picks.  I traveled back to Berkeley and bought store picks from each of them, and toast him every year from one of those bottles.

Yesterday definitely was.  West Coast Whiskey Club sponsored a Bottle Kill party at a local bar.  Probably 40-plus people attended.  Price of admission plus bring a bottle to share and get lunch, a cocktail, raffles, and taste as many of the bottles as you like.   I got to try a lot of bottles I was interested in and even won a Buffalo Trace barrel head in a raffle!
