It just hit me today that I am trying to settle into a sort of Baskin-Robbins approach to my bourbons.  Baskin-Robbins 31 Flavors stores popularized the practice of having a core of permanent flavors--chocolate, vanilla, chocolate chip, rocky road, etc.--and rotating specialty or seasonal flavors like Baseball Nut, Pumpkin Cheesecake, America's Birthday Cake, etc.

I think that's what I am trying to get to with my bourbons.  Have a solid core of permanent bottles--WT 101, KC, OF 1920, etc., with "specialty" bottles rotating in and out:  Remus Repeal Reserve, ECBP, Joseph Magnus, etc.

I even offer samples like Baskin-Robbins, just not with those pink spoons.

That’s definitely my process.  I drink maybe 6 different bourbons regularly, and sprinkle in others as my mood leads me.

Crazy similarities. We drive past a Baskin Robbins's near our house quite frequently. It's on the route to and from our main grocery stores, and yes, a couple of liquor stores. It's hard to drive by and not stop in. However, I have been a little frustrated with them for a while. Love Potion 31 was only available a few weeks around Valentines Day this year. Last year it stayed available for nigh on three months or more. Also, I haven't seen German Chocolate Cake for a couple of years now. I have to make do with Rocky Road. And then there's........................... Holy 💩!  Ice cream is like bourbon. 🤯

most trips to the ... larder under the desk are for sampling bunch o' flavors in course of night.  but other nights I'll just stick with one for the entire evening.  so's, most nights it's baskin robbins sampler, other nights I tear lid of ice cream bucket and face first - chin deep before know it

It's also like ice cream, for example, if a person new to ice cream were to ask "which flavor is the best".  People like different things, and preferences evolve.

I just have to be careful not to repeat with bourbon what I did with ice cream.  I worked at a Baskin-Robbins store for several years as a teen and we were allowed to eat as much as we wanted while on shift.  I figured out I ate an average of a quart of ice cream a day....

Now I want bourbon and ice cream. 😁

Luxardo or Amarena cherries taste equally good with both!
