Not too long ago I had a couple of scotches (Clynelish, Kilkerran) that had a bit of brine/saltiness to them and I really enjoyed it.  What are some of your favorite  ones with that note? I understand everyone's palate is different, but I was just looking for others to try. I'm typically more on the sherry side but am starting to dip my toe into the Islay/peat realm...Talisker has been mentioned to me and any other recommendations would be appreciated!

I'm no Scotch expert, but I do enjoy some of the unpeated varieties regularly. Bunnahabhain has a noticeable briny note, as well as being partially sherry casked which is also apparent on the palate. Being 46.2% (at least for the 12 year) is another bonus.

Ledaig 10 is a good option for peaty brine.

Non peated I'd say Old Pulteney 12/15 is the classic salted malt, which they refer to as the 'maritime' note.

Also check out AnCnoc, some of their  bourbon cask stuff is nicely salty, and they do peated and unpeated stuff.

Talisker is a good recommendation!

Definitely Old Pulteney. is usually briny and salty.  Some Talisker  is.  A number of years ago, the first Scotch that got me really excited about Scotch was a Bowmore that tasted very briny and salty.  However, I haven't found those notes as much in recent Bowmores.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I appreciate it. I did pick up an Old Pulteney 12 the other day and it hit that spot. I need to check out that AnCnoc and have read good things about Bowmore.

Chiming in late but if you like sherry and also want salty, try Glen Scotia Double Cask.  It’s about $60 and hits both of those notes for me.

The Aerstone sea cask has a salty finish like you inhaled sea water in the ocean surf. It’s a bit much for me, more of a peaty smoke guy but if brine is what you like I think it might hit the spot.
