How do you say “it’s 2023 and the bourbon boom is still going?”

When this counts as a duty free score! Anyone else excited to find what used to be every day drinkers?IMG_0782.thumb.jpeg.78f7a216a27942965f43fc80b15adb08.jpeg

Yikes. Maybe I’m alone in this but the boom has given me a greater sense of contentment with what I have and has made finding a special bottle that much more exciting.

That being said, I want the bubble to burst lol.

Not obvious from the pic, but they are 1 liter bottles, so there’s that… lol

I think with the supply/demand issues the boom has created has emboldened many to see what else is out there and they are finding new whiskies to enjoy thereby expanding the boom. It's a vicious circle sorta thing

Nice observation @Charlutz. Two liters of BT for $60.00 is a pretty good price. I’d definitely buy one or two at that price. Our local Sam’s Club used to have liters for $27.99, but sadly it’s been a while since they’ve had any BT at all.

The price for a 750 of BT is usually around $24.99 at the very few stores in  our area that aren’t somewhat tater. Once in a while you can find it on sale for a couple of dollars or so less. A few weeks ago I bought a ps BT 1.75 on sale at Binny’s for $39.99. 🙂 Just after that, I stopped at a store where $39.99 was their regular price for. 750. 🙃

Interesting to be sure!

Actually BT has been at every store here in P'Cola for the past year and a half after a 2 year hiatus. The boom effect; every one of them have a single bottle limit. (not 1.75's)

VA ABC...sigh...all BT stuff is "allocated", or in other words part of the asinine drop system.  I'm probably just being old and a curmudgeon, but I refuse to participate in the drops.  So anyway, I don't buy BT stuff unless I'm traveling out of state and I see it.  And don't get me started on what they consider allocated here.  Things like Michters Sour Mash...really?!?!  That stuff was all over the place when I was looking around for stuff up in the Midwest (I actually grabbed one too).  So the drop system has created an artificial demand for stuff here.  I think it'll be a long time before BT stuff ever sits on a shelf in VA.

Anyway, the one thing I can say about the boom is it has given a bunch of the small up and coming distilleries a chance to get a piece of the pie.  Since I can't buy BT stuff I have been trying other things and finding out just how awesome they are.  Grabbed 3 different bottles of New Riff stuff when I was traveling a couple of months ago.  You hear that BT...I'm spending my money on other stuff because I can't actually buy your products...crickets...that's what I thought...ha ha

I buy what I like and what I like I can get.  If I can't get it, I find something else I like.  I pass on a lot of things I used to like that are no longer in my price range or the profile has changed once the brand either went NAS or to a different iteration.  For example, EC v EC12 and Baker's SmB v Baker's SiB.

I like BT but I didn't miss it when I couldn't get it.  In it's current price range, I can get WT101, OF100, OGDBIB, and for few bucks more, KC9.  I like it but won't miss it if it goes away again.  I like ER, Blanton's, ETL but don't really miss them

Same here. I like BT but if it isn't on sale I won't buy it.  WT 101 and OGD BiB are my main drinkers these days.... with GD 12 and some iteration of OF once in a while to change things up.

I'm late to the party on this thread, but this quote is me.
